Interesting. I wonder what is so different between your setup and mine. M4's, ect, ect.

Dave

Mine with Mach 1. 5's & the smarty, will pull to 3500 rpm. Then it flattens out but I'm running low on fuel pressure by then too.

My first run would, but no go after that.

I'm curious, have you done the update to eliminate the surge?

And Bob, if you read this, is there a way to get that old surge program back? Just for testing purposes only on the dyno.

I am wondering if that's where my top end power is lurking.

I'm not really sure myself. I am just thinking out loud, but since the truck lost that 1800rpm surge, it just does not build boost as fast on top.

Let me put it another way. Box off, Smarty on SW#9, WOT, it'll make 45psi. Of course, that sure does not sound like much, but it has to do with the early secondary wastegate and the slippage of the pimary.

With the old program, it would jump from 45 psi to 52 psi. There was just more fueling in the upper rpm. Now, I have no idea if that equates to more power on the dyno. But I am curious and I'll be back on the dyno in the next week or so. Just thought it would be interesting to see if that has any effect on overall power with the TST Comp on level 9.

I still love the Smarty and the daily driving aspect. I am just trying to find some of my "missing" power. I'll also try it agains a drag comp on the same day to get an accurate comparison.

Dave

I still have the old software with the "surge". If you want it, no problem.

Interesting test...

Marco

P. S. Send me a PM with your E-Mail address where I can send you the up-date, OPS, that would be a "down-date" :-laf

I would appreciate it Marco.

Now, the qquestion is, can I get both the old and new software in the same Smarty? Or maybe I can get a loaner from Bob?

I have no idea if there would be any change, but it sure would put that question to rest!

Dave

On edit... .

If you have any additional programs that you would like me to try stacked with a TST competetion version, I would happy to dyno those as well.

You don't need two Smarty's but two updates. Test the old version first, then load the new version into Smarty. Simple...

Marco

Where can I obtain the old software after I have already loaded the new stuff on my Smarty?

And furthermore, how do I load both versions into the Smarty so that I can test both back to back? I could load them off my laptop on the dyno if I can get my hands on them.

I never had the surge. I sent my beta unit back to Marco as it was vin locked to my wrecked truck & the replacement is as he sent it.

NO, you can only load one version at a time.

That's what I thought.

Is it possible to get the old programming via a download or emial and I could put that on my laptop? I can simply upload the software to the Smarty while on the dyno and then reload the ECM.

Is there a way to make that work? I really don't want to have to run home and turn a 15 minute experiment into a several day dyno session. :-laf

1) Send me a PM

2) Tell me your E-Mail address ( in the PM. . )

3) Marco sends the old version to your E-Mail address

The new version with the "surge" fix you already have or you can simply download from the MADS web site...

My truck has the surge/pause problem again. I'm not sure why or how it came back. Maybe I just didn't notice it until I towed last weekend. I emailed Marco a few days ago and also sent Bob a message on his contact form as my email to him got kicked back to me. Did you guys get my emails? I really like the way it runs when it's working right. The problem is right in the 1800-2000 RPM range again. I put it back to stock and I don't notice the problem and my truck is not showing any codes. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kyle

I was wondering if it's ok to tow with the Smart on #9? Will I kill my transmission in short order?

With the Superchips the settings were based on how much your were towing... just wondering if the Smarty is the same way.

kyle, I apologize for the email kick back and no it did not come through. Please send it to my email link here on the TDR and I will fix the link.

sorry

Bob
