Marco is really a genius Oo. this smarty works AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geeze I've been running Mach 4's and the Catcher for over a year and its been first class all the way

Downloaded the stock program for ****s and giggle :-laf oh my world what a dog

I gotta say the fuel saver program still produces great hp and throttle response so if this produces the fuel mpg gains that it should it will be great.

Trucks back to level 9 Oo. Oo. and all is good

THANK YOU MARCO

So it looks like I will upgrade to springs that will allow me to turn 4,000 rpm and then worry about getting the Smarty. By that time Marco will have it dialed in to take advantage of more RPM.

Anybody know who sells the springs and how much :D

I just want to subscribe to the thread, hence the post.

EDIT: Oh, ok, I did not realize that there is a thread tool to subscribe to a thread without a post.

A few udates.

Hi there,

I'd like to keep you up to date.

JKinney asked several pages back :

What if: Our truck breaks down, gets towed to DC and a flash is done while being repaired. If we were unable to use the smarty to return the ecm to stock mode prior to the breakdown, Is our smartie deamed useless?

Altough, I believe that's unlikely to happen often. Anyway, for peace of mind we've taken care of that now. From the FAQ's in our web site:

Q. What if a dealer flashes the ECM and Smarty was not returned to stock?

Is my Smarty now useless?

A. We've been asked that question many times. Upon request...

We've now build a " safety feature " into Smarty. Should a reflash happen without having Smarty returned to stock first, you need to contact us and tell us the serial # of your Smarty and the VIN # of your truck. With that information we're able to provide you a password that will allow Smarty to update again your ECM. That password will work ONLY ONE TIME.

That means that you can unlock Smarty from the ECM ONLY ONE TIME.

Hey, looks like I've listened. :D

We're now up to firmaware revision # 1. 13

Thought's?

Ship it! Oo.

We'll download v1. 14 next month ;)

Seriously though, you should consider the recurring revenue potential of software upgrades. Just because the Smarty has download capability, doesn't mean you have to give it away. As a systems test engineer for a software/electronics development company for the last 11 years, free upgrades for life won't pay my salary. While some people may feel entitled to free upgrades, it's just a feeling, it'll go away. :{ I would be more than happy with free upgrades for the first year as a purchase incentive (built into the purchase price of course), then pay for future upgrades on a per-release or subscription basis.

Regards,

Neil

Hey Neil,

You have just gained one buddy ( Me ) but at the same time you've got

several enemies ... :-laf :-laf :-laf

Seriously, dunno sounds good! LOL

Let's start, then we'll see.

Marco

Let the coal roll :-laf :-laf

Warning

The purpose of this forum is to exchange information and ideas about new product introductions, etc.

This thread is fast moving toward becoming an "order pad. " Since this is our first thread, I assume this is just due to newness and no bad intent.

So, please keep the discussions about ordering product, shipping information, etc. out of the thread. PMs are great. Go for it. Just keep the thread technically oriented so that users do not have to slog through a lot of extraneous material.

Thanks for your understanding and your support.

Lookie Neil,

You've got TWO new buddies! :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

I should consider it seriously?... . Hmmm really dunno I'll talk about it with Stefano.

Robin, I understand your point! You must consider also that as much as I try to tell the members here lookie at my FAQ page (or web site for that matter) where most of the questions posted here already find an answer...

There's always someone who asks a question HERE that's on the very top of the FAQ's THERE . Same goes for the ordering information. I guess that's just how things are. The nature of the beast... :-laf

Yet, this thread has already helped me to understand what I could do to improve my lil toy. (After all shouldn't a product come as close as possible to the customers needs? TDR is providing a GREAT!!! service to his members and to me the vendor)

The TDR members in change are getting all the informations about my product they can dream of. Educated purchase? I think so!

THANKS TDR!!!

Marco

P. S. On edit. Thinking about it...

TDR not only provides a great service to his members. The word " Great" is an abused concept; UNIQUE is most likely the better concept. Where else?

Got the Smarty back from my Bud with the 2001 6 speed. To say the least he is not happy with his stock SW now. He did say that the #9 program was a little too much for him, so I decided to play with #6 the Mild CaTHER. I like it better for just driving around town. It has plenty of power and not much smoke. On my 2001 5 speed, which is stock, is has more response and power than with the B&D plug and play. I think the #6 program will work for a lot of people that wants more than stock but yet don't want balls to the walls. The engine has a little more noise on #6 than the stock SW. But not as much noise as #9.

I think Marco has really come up with something that will suit about 99% of us diesel guys. Of course there will be that 1% that will aways want more more more power. But I'm happy that I have a range to suit what I want at the time I want it. ( I think I said that right) 10 different programs it a good idea. If the Smarty does not have what you want then I think that person can never be happy with any mods.

Oh, I have changed and gone back and forth about 25 time with this Smarty. To stock, to all different programs. No problems simple and easy. The only thing I would suggest to Marco is to put a sticker on the back of the Smarty with the program #'s on it so there is no need for the extra paper to look up the different programs. Everything is top Quality with the SMARTY.
