Hey Bob,

a couple thousand posts ago you said that you had some new labels made up for the updated Smarty's. I had asked for one of those and did not receive it?

Was there a problem getting them made or did I just get overlooked.

If you can scan one and send me the file I will make it myself.

Dave, must have been my error. In the mail tomorrow.

Thanks Bob!!

Also, it looks like Blair and I have finally got this EGT problem while towing solved. :D

I pulled the Siskyous, Grants Passes and Santiam this past vacation and never had any problem with boost, power or temps. It has been a long haul but I believe we are there!

Question for Bob or Marco

I can't remember if was discussed earlier so forgive me if I missed it.

On software #2 and #3 is the torque management still in place, I am asking because I would like my transmission to last a little bit longer (still saving my penneys). It feels like it is less agressive than the catchers, just currious.

Also Marco a while back you commented about a fix for the surge with a HRVP44, was that in update Smte1_07 ? The condition I have is that when the transmission goes into overdrive lock-up it tends to buck (surge) a little at 45 mph and about 1200 to 1300 rpm. I assume it is because the govenor is searching for equalibrium but the hot rod parts make it difficult. It goes away instantly with any aditional acceleration, any thoughts?

Regards , Mike

Did some testing with the smarty on fuel saver mode or last couple of months. I have been consistently getting 23-23. 5 empty on the highway.

The lack of power sucks but sure helps out at the pumps!!!

Which setting are you seeing the best fuel saver?

Clearing Codes

I have used smarty to clear codes on my rig only, It never clears the 1693 companion code I have done a couple sequences in a row, and it is always still there. Any one else?

I asked that question about4 months ago or maybe 50 pages back and was told #9. During the week I favor 5 as my vehicle is my work truck, as a landscaper, I tow constantly. On the weekends im towing the 5er and I prefer 9 as I want the power and maximum performance Oo.

I had the Catcher before the smarty, with the Kore suspension and 33 on it my mileage was best 19 - 20. the only other time i saw the high numbers was when it was stock. No suspension no catcher. The setting was on number 2, the only thing it is a real dog at accelerating

Mine has ALWAYS cleared the 1693, and it is NOT normal for it to not clear and stay cleared, unless the truck has been driven again with a Smarty programming level loaded, which will likely cause it to be set again along with the P0602.

If your's won't clear the 1693, something is wrong - perhaps NOT actually related to the Smarty itself.

Ok, just spent literally hours over the course of several nights reading every post in this thread. . Shewweee! It was rather entertaining to say the least. Especially seeing the different outlooks of some posters. . : ) Was overall very impressed by the quality of discussion, and the energy put into answering questions was commendable. . This was a total team effort - and was exactly what I had hoped for as being a TDR member.

First Class Job to Everyone on here. .

And Darkhorse - Dang that was too scary - glad your recovery is coming along. . Wondering if you can transfer your APB to the new truck. .

My question: I think Marco had stated before in one post is that it is ok to leave the smarty hooked up while driving. . This gave me the vision it would be kind of nice to keep it connected, and have the smarty in the center console ready to change programs at will anytime you can shutdown for 2 mins. . Would this be feasable? Might have to extend the wiring harness a bit... Good idea? or Dreaming. .

Thanks again!!

I don't see the point in leaving it attached. It only takes 5 seconds to plug it in.

Wow! was this a long discussion. I just finished reading through this thread- yeah it took a few days. This thread shed a lot of light for me on how the whole 24V system works, and now I see some advantages of having one. Do I plan to sell my 12V's? No. :-laf But understanding how it works will help me work on my friends '00, and maybe, just maybe if I wear out the 12's I'll consider the 24. (not to sidetrack this as a 12v vs 24v debate. :D :halo: )

So, when my friend gets his driving/VP issues ironed out, is there anyone in GA with a Smarty they'd be willing to demo? I'm sold on the idea, but then again I'm not the one buying it. :-laf

Well since this was brought back I have a question. .

Its probably in the last 92 pages but I am pretty pooped to read through so maybe someone knows this-

Lets say I buy a smarty today and flash in what program I like,

Will this TSB flash

A- be included when I install the smarty?

B- be included only when I go back to stock settings?

C- neither A or B if the truck never had that flash update to begin with?

Towed the new fiver(11,100lbs empty)on #3 with all the "STUFF'in my sig except for the Toyo's 315 and did OK----only had to drop from 6th on some steep hills. Still maintained 60+++MPH on the hills in fifth. Cruise on level or small climbs was 950PRE---700post,boost was 5-7 psi, transmission+rear diff tracked each other within 10 degrees at about 170-180F. Hope this helps DW
