What is the future of Smarty?

I forgot to mention, while I fully understand these update's are FREE of charge to existing Smarty owners and engineering time costs alot of money. I do not think that I am alone in feeling that if the update cost was reasonable but was available in a timely manner many would consider it.

NOT EXACTLY TRUE! ;)

Just for the record:

FACT IS, the awaited upgrades WERE paid for at the time of original purchase - those upgrades were a serious PART of what MAKES a Smarty what it is, and was one of the major publicised Smarty features and reasons many of us bought it in the first place!

Unfortunately for 2nd generation owners, we've been left sitting on the sidelines, while it's been mostly 3rd generation owners getting their money's worth!

We 2nd generation Smarty owners have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to apoligize for, or register need for humble BEGGING for attention - it's nothing "extra" - it has long since been already PAID FOR!

HEY BOB, I might just take you up on that! ;):-laf

Don't get me wrong Bob - many of my comments in this thread have been intended as general in nature, and often to address what I consider misconceptions as to buyer/seller/manufacturer responsibilities and reasonable customer expectations.

In ALL of this, I personally feel YOUR specific assistance, help and input has been FAR above reproach! ;)

But I do resist the notion that we 2nd generation Smarty owners are in ANY way less important or deserving of continued MADS support than the guys with the newer models. After all, MANY of the programming upgrades being requested are actually those uncorrected from early on in the production of the Smarty - so are in that sense lots more a service/warranty issue than any "extra" programming...

A customer of pretty much ANY product is fully entitled to a finished product that meets ALL the manufacturer's claims - and also reasonable manufacturer efforts to correct product defects or deficiencies.

It's absolutely silly for a customer to consider manufacturer efforts to correct product shortcomings or otherwise make it operate as claimed in advertising as "something extra" - after all, wasn't that what was paid for from the start?

As Far as Smarty is concerned, after-purchase program upgrades WERE part of the product "package", as well as reasonable expectation for corrective action of any performance/driveability issue that might randomly arise.

BOB, cheers - you have my continued respect and support, don't take my comments personally, they're not intended that way or aimed at you, only aimed at ISSUES, not individuals. And I'm a non-drinker - so I'll settle for a cold root beer! ;):-laf

PRout... . As far as I know they didnt give me 150 mph or 4500 rpm obtaining capabilities in any form with my Smarty. Even if I had the fuel, air, required hard parts, desire or flat level ground to go 150 mph I still dont feel the brakes and front suspension would support such stupidity. Beyond that I am not entirely sure that us 2nd gen owners actually have those... . Do we??..... Bob?? I would love to be the uninformed owner who helped every other Smarty owner realize these updates were sitting there waiting for us while we sat here talking instead of downloading and driving, but I dont believe they are ready yet..... read above... sun moon... stars... yadda yadda..... I am sitting here waiting to be corrected in my errors about this product, at least then we would have an answer. Feel free to make fun of these posts and call me a whiner or whatever label fits, but I am pretty sure the only thing I am slightly off base about is the fact this thread is a month old. Contrary to what it may seem, I am a perfectly content Smarty owner who makes sure everyone knows I have it and that its available to try in their 2nd gens around me. I use it everyday and I wouldnt have it any other way. The corrections I would like to see arent something I am ranting about on here and no where will you find me bad mouthing the existing product. My sole issue is over updates that dont ever seem to be able to materialize to correct issues that have been pointed out by Smarty's legions of loyal followers. I havent gone back and counted them but I know there are multiple posts on here eluding that things are coming for us 2nd genners. Maybe I am the only one out here who think it would be really cool to actually have them. Too bad I dont live near Oregon... no custom tune offer... no beer... . I didnt realize this was a geographically sensitive product. Should have read the fine print on that. And to think I was the one person on here saying I would PAY for an actual upgrade... ...

I would pay too to get the specific programs I wanted but we were promised the ability for upgrades at the time of purchase. I am some what content with how my truck runs but I would like more options.

Should have heard Marco comments when he had his first Budweiser in Columbus... ... .

Not too many europeans, nor aussie's are big fans of the standard american beers... . but for that matter, the aussies dont drink fosters either! ... . introduce Marco to some micro brews... he'll be happier and more productive!

Glad he made it to the US earlier rather than october!! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Why don't we all go for the party and updates? Ok, it would be a long drive!!! We'd just like some smoke clearing updates. Count me a non-smoker... unless there's a tailgater!!

Amen! Wish there was a "smoke switch" just for that purpose. :-laf

Bob, you also told us 03/04 HO/SO Folks, "we got a surprise for you"

WELL... . What is it?

ASK A QUESTION? GET BEER COMERCIALS... NEW ERA!

All the silence is killing me here. Marco has been here for several days and not one word from anyone on how the second gen program update tests are going. :(

The new software removes the speed limiter for the 2001 ans 2002 trucks

The smarty now offers the ultimate valet switch set the maximum speed from 25 to 250 mph

This new program is also showing higher rpm fueling too.

We are working on the rev limiter right nowtoo. Looking to go 4000

Thank you for the offer Bob, BUT... .....

None of this will help with what I would like. All those are added features I do not want or care about, when what is really needed is a focus on the trouble issues. My #1 main want is a program that will give me back the use of my cruise control without the excessive surgeing that I have no control over, and also a way to desensitize the auto transmission shifting which I can control with driving habit for now.
