what is causing a lot of smoke to come out of my breather? i just routed the breather down and away to under the truck, It so it wouldn't make a mess of my engine. Is this a major problem? and what might the solution be?

Mine has always had a little smoke comming out of it. Unless it is really bad, I would not worry about it. I only noticed it after moving the line back by the transfer case. I think the only reason I notice it now is because the air movement from the radiator fan dissociated the smoke under the hood.

Depending on the conditions, some times it will steam a bit more than others. I've had it drift up in front of my driving lights a couple of times while at a stoplight (which freaked me out the first time before I figured out what it was), but most of the time there's just a little whisp. Check just under and behind the bumpers of big rigs while they idle and you'll see the same thing from their breathers.

today i'm changing my oil, i'm using Amsoils 15w-40. i'll see if that makes a difference. i think it could still be a bad piston ring. Will rerouting my breather void my warrenty?

If you live in a cold area, be very careful about extending very far. It can freeze up and block the line, which will blow the seals out to the engine. I just extended mine 18" and tie wrapped it to the DSS cross tube. SNOKING

I live in connecticut. i extended it to the frame rail just before my transmission. i used reinforced 3/4 inch hose. i should be ok for the summer but might have to shorten it for the winter.

Same here. I am up in MackTruck's anD FireHunter territory and have mine go straight down , 90* and hug the oil pan and trans out to the skid plate. It's been that way for 2 years . . no wait 3 years no and have been in-30* weather and no issues.
