I was driving home from work last night, running the A/C and noticed what looked like smoke coming from the vent in front of the shift lever on the column. Not much, but it was steady until I turned the A/C off. It's been raining and at first I thought it might just be the same as condensation when you exhale on a cold day, but it happened again this morning. The only other time I saw something like this was on a 1969 Mercury Marquis when the heater core developed a leak.

Does this sound like a leak in the heater core? I've only noticed it when the A/C is on a lower setting and set to fresh air, and it has only come out of the one vent by the shift lever. I guess I should plan for a dealer visit on Monday...

Thanks for any help.

Probally just air at its most dense and saturated state ! Could get more technical ,but, it would take a few hundred words... ... I'm assuming as you did'nt say it had any type of odor.

If it works

I woudn't worry about it. If its cooling and don't stink its working. This one I have now has done it once. Had them do it in the past. Your getting to picky. :D

Think Fog? I can nearly white out my whole cab. Of course I can frost over all my windows from the inside when its 70 degrees out side too.

Thanks for the responses. It didn't have an odor so I suspected it was condensation, but when it happened two days in a row the memories of the bad heater core came back with a vengeance. Had this been the heater core, or something to do with the A/C it would have been the first functional problem I've had in 24K miles. Man I love this truck!
