I installed my DD1's and PS boost module about 3 weeks ago. It is wonderful and I now accelerate on the hills while I'm towing about 7,000 lbs. I noticed that it smokes a little more when I really get on the go pedal. I can see what looks like black smoke when I'm accelerating hard. I did notice the same thing when my motor was stock, but not very often.

Is this normal? Should I be worried? What type of fuel injection cleaner/injection pump lubricant do you use?

Thanks in advance,
Charles

Of course this is normal! You will have smoke when you hit it at low boost. Boost is what make the fuel burn more completly so after the boost is up you wont see smoke.

P. S Get some gauges if you dont have them!

BOMBING RULES
# 1. GAUGES FIRST
2. exhaust upgrade
3. transmission / clutch
4. power enhacements

Before you possibly cook your engine you need to get at least a exhaust temp gauge!!!!!!!!
If you could get some smoke with small stock injectors you will get a little more with bigger injectors, theis will aso create higher exhaust temps. more fuel = more power ::: more power = more heat :: more heat ( unmonitored ) = possible piston damage

Thanks for the reply. I'm waiting for DD to come up with his new line of Autometer gauges custom made for DD. I did not get the gauges yet since I've been told with DD1 and PS boost module you really don't have to worry about EGT's. Of course, I still want to know what the EGT and boost pressure is.

Anyone have any ideas how hard it is install a fuel pressure gauge? I think it would be a good idea to measure the fuel pressure to monitor for any problems before the lift pump fails.

Thanks again,
Charles

I would not advise towing your trailer to New Mexico with out a egt gauge as even with 4" ex and DD1's you can hit 1300*+.
Just my own, and other ctd owners experience.
