Competition Fast truck..cool video.

I had some Subaru take off like a bat outa hell from the light tonight. I guess he saw my license plate, 1FSTDSL. Unaware he wanted to race, I caught up with him and rolled down my window and asked if he would like to try that again. I flipped on the propane and comp box and all he saw was tailights and lots of smoke. I slowed down and he asked what I had running through that thing, I said its just a diesel. I think these things are supposed to do the 1/4 in the mid 13's.

Low-14's from what I hear. I am willing to bet it might be a bit different if you held it out to top end speeds. I have a couple friends driving WRX's, and trying to launch a manual AWD turbo'd car is not as easy as it sounds. Let him get out of the hole(where our sheer torque and your drugs helped you) and race him from there;)

I repair Subaru's for a living. Our service writer dips into the mid 13's with a little less than $1,500 in mods to his '02 WRX.

i owned a 2002 WRX wagon 5spd. with just exhaust done and a boost controler on it running 15psi i ran a 13. 7 with spin coming out of the hole (can't warm tires)

the reason for boost control is subaru like to limit boost to only 7-8 psi in first gear and only 12 psi in second then lets you have all the boost in 3rd (14psi) so just having the controler on makes sure you get full boost in all gears. the stock turbo can handle roguhly 16psi but then creaps in transmission problems after that. i figured for the little you gain from turning it up 1 psi more than stock is fine.

Good work GC! I got one last yr,I think he was shooked to get manhandled out of the hole and walked the entire way down. He had a few mods ,exhaust, intake boost controller. Whatever it was it wasnt enough:D . They are a quick car though

I did race him from there, we raced from 40mph-95mph. I never saw the front of his car, I gradually pulled away from him. I can still see the look on his face when we hit the brakes and he pulled up next to me, priceless.

My neighbor has a '02 with a few mods (up-pipe, ECM, blow off valve, filter, exhaust, & different springs) and he can run a 13. 2 with it now. He was always amazed my old truck ran 12s. We ran at the strip a few times and we'd stay side by side through 1st, but then I'd start pulling. Stock it ran in the low 14s.

Friend of mine on Slicks,, a 2wd DuraMax with a 4" Exhaust, a HomeMade Cold Air kit, a BullyDog Programmer and a Hot Juice, he ran a 13. 35 @ 109 Stock Everything else! Even with a ton of junk in the back (tool box, two spares, icechest, etc)

He suprises ALOT of cars on the road.

Dude that was a freak chance. My WRX ran strong (Scoobysport 3" exhaust with up pipe and down and center cat back , ITG intake , Sampco hoses , and not much else) and it was fast. My buddies STi is just out of control. it sits @ 300 HP and 300 Ftlbs in its stock form. In 2 months he will be rolling out on a "Secret tuned V turbo'd and tuned 400+ hp monster.

Here's my old "rex

PaulG, Look familiar on the i-club?

The 02 WRXs are 227 hp I believe and starting in 03 they have 300 hp & 300 trq. In June 03, Car and Driver results; 0-60 4. 6 sec. 1/4 mile 13. 2 @ 103. Car weighs 3250 lbs. The 03s have a taller rear wing and taller hood scoop compared to older models.

ECM

I've never tuned one of those WRX's but a buddy does.

A good file in the ECM an intake and exhaust puts 330 Hp on the rollers for a 02 WRX.

The secret is in the ECM...

Yes and no. WRX is 227 H. P No matter what year (Starting as an 02)

The WrX STi is 300 H. P + 300LBft Tq.

The WRX Can 0-60 in 5. 4 and 1/4 out at high 13's

The Wrx STi can and will in fact do a 0-60 in 4. 6 and 12. 8 in bone stock form (We took my friends to the track) granted he drove very well but we were left scratching our heads at car and drivers times. Two other STi's and Evos were there that day as the cars had juuust come out pretty much the beginning of that month. Another guy BASHED out a 12. 6 something which left us just plain old dumbfounded. Now imagine one that has been Bombed.

just ask danelle the sti rocks, We just wish they woould make the 300hp on a 2. 0 jdm engine, not the 2. 5 usdm engine

I have a buddy with an STI all I can say is that its INSANE. That car is quick. We took switchback corner at about 50 mph and he slid the rear end around, punched it and we were gone.

Our trucks are fast in a straight line, WRX's rule the corners.

An interesting side note, my buddy with the STI just bought an a wrecked EVO 8. Trying to decide what to transplant the motor/running gear into to make a sleeper... any ideas??
