Think about about this Tom, I believe you dyno low 400hp, right. And you still did really good this year at the pulls. That just tells you it not all about dyno #'s or high hp! Oo.

Good point Tim,after all you ran 11. 60 with only 360hp! :-laf

I will probably show, no truck though. I will just mope around probably drinking like a fish, babbling about how you guys don't have any power because you can't drag a sled, yeah! Sounds like a hoot!!!

Well if you weren't out doing burn out in 6 gear now, you and your truck would be there. :-laf :{

Drinking like a fish? Do you like to drink? Maybe its a good thing your not bring your truck.

I like to drink on occasion, I'm what most people refer to as a "social drinker".

I'm going to try to make it just to see Tom "Socially Drink like a Fish and Babble about how much power MY Truck has". :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

3 or 4 of us from the central valley will be rolling down there to the dyno. What time does the dyno start? Do we need to make reservations first? What dyno is being used?

hey looks like im going to have to go as well. should be fun to see tom Drink like a Fish agian! LOL he says on "occasion" anything can be an "occasion" :D

I would guess that everything starts around 9:30am, they open the doors @ 9, so little time to get everything up and running.

I found out the dyno is an inertia dyno and the rollers are only 3000lb. I hope you guys making the longer trips get the numbers you are looking for cuz after talking my results and experience over with a friend of mine who has A LOT more chassis dyno experience than me, I am kind of wondering if my numbers are accurate. I never asked what the rollers weight were but an 8100lb. truck running on a 3000lb total inertia weight roller doesn't seem like it would give the right numbers.

Anyway, I wrote the owner of the place with some questions so maybe I'll have some better answers soon.

No kidding dude, like the night at Rick's house when he almost ran out of beer, what a shame... ... ... ... ...

i didnt think that sounded like a load dyno when u said the runs were really fast... ... .

Yeah, I have actually presented the owner Daivd with tons of questions about his dyno that he is not able to answer. I guess he is going to be contacting DynoCom to find out what I need to know. I basically am going to get a re-test on the 3rd or 4th of Jan. and hopefully they will be able to repeat my numbers. It was just the way they calculate the power numbers in the software without knowing what kind of gear ratio, tire size and on top of that a not so accurate way of reading RPM by putting reflective tape on the alternator for the optical pick-up and taking a wild guess at what RPM should be from our wonderfull accurate stock tachometers.

Next time I go I am putting the optical sensor somewhere on the bottom of the frame under the front of the engine to read actual crank RPM and am going to have them hold me at peak power and torque RPMs while logging data to make sure that is where the peak is. I just hope his dyno can load up my truck enough since the Eddy-brake is only capable of holding up to 500hp.

If you guys have bad experiences at this place and would like to try another, there is a place in Lancaster called 10,000 RPM, Inc. and according to a couple friedns of mine here at work, they can dyno diesels very accurately and apply the proper load for a good accurate ramp rate. I'll have to give them a call and see what they have. If I get the feeling we had some bad experiences at this Dyno Store after next weekend then I think I will do what I can to set up a new dyno day @ 10,000 RPM.
