So far 130,000 exactly yesterday. No gauge to check with but runs like a champ. Scared the pants off a good friend yesterday when he got his first ride since 98 when the CTD was all stock.

See sig.

Tell us, did you run your fuel tank empty or near for long periods and did it fail after some adverse event, eg wot..... :D

Sorry about the late reply

I always drive until I hit 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge (24-25 gal. ) then I fill up. It happened Friday night as I was getting onto the Interstate at or near WOT. The truck started bucking and refused to accelerate past 45-50 mph and 2000 rpm. I stopped and tried to rev the engine in neutral, it started stumbling and puking white smoke at about 2000 rpm. I limped down the shoulder to the next exit at about 20mph.

PS had at least 3/4 of a tank of fuel

Sheese fireman, that's what happened to my Chev at 117K so I bought a Dodge. Oh well. You would think that there was a marine diesel pump out there that would last forever pushing diesel up from the tank. You'd think. George

I thought that I had gotten lucky and gotten a "good one", I had just started to relax and quit worrying about that pump.

Oh well,

Fireman:(

I carry a spare one just in case this one gives up but I have had such good luck with it that I'm afraid to change to the newer one.

older GM pumps? same deal or no?

That reminds me. Dad had a new '93 6. 5 GM diesel truck and it went through two lift pumps in 3 years. They warrantied one and made him pay for the other one.

Wonder what their setup was and if it was ever fixed? I never really poked around under the hood. I just kept telling him that it ain't a Cummins--and now he's real happy with a 12v.

Yeah, Knock on wood. The only engine problem I've had was a crank sensor that went out at about 180K.

The 5 speed has been a whole different story. Original trans was repaired 3 times (input shaft, output shaft, 5th gear, 5th gear syncro, Finally gave up and bought a new 5 speed from an outfit in Tallahassee, Fl. Have about 60K on it so far. On third clutch.

I just put in #4 last week at about 140K.

first one mile one to 45K

second 45K to 85K

third one 85K to 140K

fourth one 140 K to (180K estimated)

Will buy my next one in about 15 or 20 K to put under the seat. I can hear an indescribable rattle from the pump only when the tank gets below 1/4 when its life is drawing to a close. I don't want to be without one in case of failure, however I also don't want to buy it to soon as they may come up with "the fix" soon
