I am seriously thinking about getting a soft tonneau for my truck, What are you guys using and is there anything that attaches permanently to the tailgate.

Thanks!

have a Lund Genesis soft roll up and nothing attaches to the tailgate. Been great so far, weathertight n holds snow

Truck cover info and source

Try the following for some info.

I just got a 4 panel Fold-A-Cover from TruckAddOns.com below at a good price. They seemto carry most all the popular covers. I know mines not a soft cover but my next door neighbor liked it so much he ordered one also. Then a good friend of mine saw it and also ordered one.

Check out

Their prices were pretty good and all three of us got our covers within a week.

Hope this helps.

PS - The Fold-A-Cover locks the tailgate. The cover itself clamps on the bed and the only holes I had to drill were two small holes in the tailgate for the locking tab.

Check out the Extang Tonneau Covers

They have a great Warranty

I've got the Full-Tilt cover and it's great. No drilling, very secure, doesn't leak, and no modifications to the tailgate.

How much did it set you back?

Do you guys have spray on bedliners with the tonneau cover? If so, did you go over or under the rails with the spray on liner!

Using an Extang tilt-able tonneau cover here... .

Nice features:

- No Drilling install,

- 2 sets (summer/winter) of snap positions [or available in J-channel too],

- 2 sets of cross bar positions (summer/winter)

- Tilt-able to open/load easily - held up by two struts

- Quick disconnect - tilt up past 45* and lifts off in one piece (with cover still snapped on!)

- NOTHING permanent connected to tailgate

- Minimal invasion of mounting hardware into bed area when main cover removed

A buddy of mine has Line-X over the Rails with his Extang... Works great!

As soon as the $$$ free up, I will have the same! :D :-laf

I've got an 03 short bed with Line-X over the rails and a Truxedo Truxsport

I think it's great but the rear latch is crap, nice and smooth and no snaps(uses velcro which works well) also mounts on to of the rail. If I remember right it was around $230 on EBAY

I got a Lund Genesis Tri fold. Clamps on, no holes, easy to lift off, still fits with my 5th wheel hitch installed. I have not tried it but I bet I could tow the 5er with the cover just folded forward.

Sorry, only picture I could find was a Sheberlet

I have this one from Geno's. Installed quickly, with no drilling. I have Line-X over the rails and no problems. I have rolled it up and hauled loads of mulch with the rails in place, no problems. The mulch sometimes gets caught in the velcro, but my shop compressors air hose cleans it right out of there, quickly.

I have a Downey Products cover. This is my second one, first one had to go with the other truck. They work great and have plastic snaps (no rust) that snap into a dove tail, thus eliminating any need for aligning snaps like on the covers with metal snaps. The last one held up great for 3 years, and for $235. 00, I think it is well worth the money.

Just recently bought the Truxedo from Autoanything.com. I have the spray in bed liner and it works great. Just got back from S. Carolina where we had a couple of big downpours and everything stayed dry

I've had a Truxedo for a couple years now and still like it. I like the fact that I can cover things and keep them dry and out of sight. I can roll it up in just seconds for bigger things. I think the feature that sets it apart from the rest is VELCRO instead of snaps. :cool:Oo.

Only thing that concerned me was:

1) the Truxedo mounting system left a fair amount inside the bed rails when rolled back... Sometimes I need the width to shoehorn 3 dirtbikes or a quad and a dirtbike next to each other (although it did have nice crisp edges and lines!)

and

2) You know how Velcro gets after being repeatedly opened/closed/opened/closed - It gets all frayed and does not hold well...

How is yours holding up after a couple years, and how often do you un-zip and re-close it?

Thanks in advance for the reply...

I'm not sure, but I think they have (or had) 2 versions. One is over the rail and one is inside the rail (what I have) for a more flush look. I could be mixing brands or styles-- It was a while back that I got it.

I would guess mine gets opened and closed about twice a week. Sure there are some weeks that it hasn't, but there've been some with multiple times a day for multiple days. I don't always pull the wrinkles out and reall y bond the velcro every time. Sometimes in a hurry, I just roll it out and latch the back. Very convenient, but with snaps I think you have to snap them or they would beat things up.

The velcro still looks fine. I think it's not as sticky as when it was new, but it's still plenty to hold well and it's easier than when it was so sensitve.

The one thing I did to it was to add foam pipe insulation to the bars that cross the bed. It stopped the noise of the cover sort of bouncing on the bars when on the highway with the rear window open.

THAT is a good idea!

I think my Extang may get some of that, as long as it can stretch over the cross supports adequately. Other option is if the foam takes a little room, I could always put the supports in the winter (lower - looser) clip position...

Nice touch!

Glad the Velcro is still working for ya, and interesting if they do have the two versions... May have to check them out as a possibility in the future. Alothough, I am pretty spoiled by the "tilt" feature on my Extang! :)

Can't take credit for it. Cooker told me that one. ;)

The one I have is the Truxsport which mounts on top of the rail not the inside

The nice part is that the bows roll up with the cover, also mine have rubber ends on them so noise isn't a problem (unlike my old Tekstyle POS)

But I hate the latch on the back as its plastic and only on the drivers side so if you put any tension on the cover it pulls up on the pass side corner.

It seals the bed great though, no water inside of it at all and also it covers the stake pockets.

I have an ACCESS roll-up bed cover. It is my 2nd one so I obviously like them. Velcro longevity not a problem as my 1st one was 5 yrs. old on my previous truck. If it would have fit my new truck I would have taken it off. My new cover has a little flatter angle on the side rails but otherwise is the same. The seal to the tailgate does leak slightly but not a big problem. I have had over 3' of snow on it w/o any problem.

I would definitely buy another. It has a great warranty. They will replace anything that breaks.
