Happy Birthday Hammer

Getting ready to put the '96 away for winter. Thinking about putting a solar battery Minder (Trickle charger) on.

If I plug it into the cig lighter (recommended), will it "Push" into the batteries?

Don't want to plug into the Power Outlet as I'll have to leave the key on (right?).

Any ideas? Costco has a kit w/2 1. 8 watt/125MAH chargers for $29. 79. One for the boat and one for the '96 :)

As always, TIA.

Stranger.

I bought one of the 1. 5 watt ones from Harbor Freight. I don't have a power plug, just the lighter in the 1st gen. I rewired the lighter to be hot all the time and plugged it in. It seemed to keep the battery up pretty good thru the winter. I did start it a couple of times, the 2nd time I did have to put the charger on it though. It was after a cold stretch, and the thing was covered with snow for a couple weeks before I got to clean it. Next time I think I will get the 5 watt one, just to be safe.

Had to leave my '01 in a storage building for a month, just hooked my battery maintainer to a plug in household timer and let it run one hour each day while I was gone. Battery good when I got back.
