I installed my track bar bracket from solid steel today. I had a frustrating time installing it, but I am definatly glad I bought it. It came with the wrong size bolts, and really doesn't fit very well. The 5 in bolt that goes through the crossmember was 4 1/2 in long. and another had fine thread bolt and a course thread nut. The bracket doesn't fit tight against the frame. Instructions say to grind if it doesn't fit, except I am pretty sure the frame doesn't have 1/2 in of extra metal. It looks to me that two of the bends just need a little more bend. I know I can make it fit with a little heat and a vice. I am going to call Solidsteel in the morning and see what they say.

So, your still glad you bought it, even though it fit like ****, and most of the hardware was wrong? Wow, your an easy customer.

The bracket isn't supposed to fit flush against the frame. There should be a gap between, to fit the differences in these trucks. No two trucks were ever built identical due to different assembly lines, jigs, etc.

I had to split the difference to make sure it would fit everybody.

Give me your address and I'll send you your money back, no questions asked, no return of the bracket, full refund.

Sorry about the problems.

Wow now that's customer service, oh by the way my DSS didn't fit right, bolts were wrong etc. etc. could I get my money back 2... ..... Just kidding, it is one of the best things I ever bought for my truck, thanks... ..... Mc good luck with your trac bar. Later...

Sorry if my post above seemed a little harsh. I really didnt mean it to. I was just confused by McCrams post. Everyone I talk to says this is the best fix for our steering.

Again, I'm sorry for any confusion or aggravation I may have caused. That wasnt my intention. :(

Easy there Darin, maybe we can put together a group buy followed by a group complaint and ----------!!!!

Just kidding!!

I am sure your products are good.

I wish this site wasn't the place where first complains were posted. they need to go to the seller, to be resolved.

Didn't have a chance to call solidsteel today, not enough time. Yes I am going to be happy with it. I drove it today, had too, with a makeshift bolt. I didn't want to test it to much with that bolt, but it definatly made an improvment.

This bracket is well engineered and if it isn't supposed to fit flush then it is probably just fine the way it is. The only problem then would be the wrong bolts.

Full refund? wow that is good customer service. I will call tomorrow. I do not believe I need a full refund for a product I am going to be happy with over all. I'll be buying the steering stabalizer next.

Group buy?

Actually I think it is a great(GREAT) ideal, why not have a group buy! What do you think Daren

If someone sets up a group buy, please PM or email me. Been looking at getting one eventually anyway. Thanks, Tony. Oo.

Took it for a drive

The bracket fits fine. I talked to Darin today and he educated me on how it is supposed to work. I had an incorrect preconceived notion how it was supposed to fit. All the mounting points are tight against the frame and that is all that is needed. He also took care of the incorrect bolt issue. I can easily understand how these bolts were put in the kit, I didn't notice until I tried to put them in the truck. Darin's customer service is exemplary, and he is a fun guy to chat with as well.

I am very impressed how the steering has improved. More responsive, no slop, and for the first time I can feel what the tires are doing through the steering wheel. I can't wait to put on the steering stablizer. I highly recommend this bracket. I'll be pushing it hard on my family members that have second gens. Found out that this trak bar kit fits the 1/2 tons also.

Fox your right, I should have called Darin first. My apologies Darin

I bought the DSS from Solid Steel. When it arrived, the hardware and instructions were not in the box. I called Solid Steel first. Russell at Solid Steel sent the missing parts immediately via overnight express.

I realize that those parts may have been lost when the box went through customs. Even so, Russell took charge and took care of me with the express shipping so I could get the DSS installed before our trailer trip.

My opinion of Solid Steel's customer service is that it is first rate. Any company can mess up now and then. It's how they handle it that matters. Solid Steel is one of the best in my book.

Solidsteel,

I just read through the site guidlines. It appears for a group buy to take place you would need to contact one of the TDR staff members to clear it. Then a post with that subject (one post) would need to be made (I would be happy to do it) and the a link to a classified ad.

I would be really interested. Solidsteel, could you PM me on the possibility of this happening and how much product we would need for you to be willing to deeply discount?

Thanks

Phil
