When he hit me, he broke my passenger side turn signal assembly. Does anyone know the part # for a '96 Ram? I don't want to go to a dealership for one (I'm afraid to ask how much it would cost).

First off, you should be thankfully that it was such a slight accident. Only a minor problem and know one got hurt, trucks and about everything else we cherish can be replaced, lives, limbs and health can not. Your next problem is you ask others for your part number and state you are afraid to ask the dealer. I know the dealers can be high on some replacement items, but I usually find them to be rather competitive on MOST items. You are lucky it was a commonly replaced item, there are many manufacturers of both stock and custom replacement lights , lamps and assemblies. A simple search on any one of the many search engines will revel literally hundreds or sources. E-bay is also a great source for replacement lights and lenses. Since your truck is pretty old (96), you might want to conceder replacing both sides, a new light/lens will be rather apparent to the eye. I purchase alot through Tenafly Chrysler/Jeep. They have a decent web based catalog that is easy to navigate and usually sell about 30% under list. You will most likely find that you can purchase both sides cheaper Thur a non-dealer source, then you could purchase one side Thur the dealer. Reason being the aftermarket is hot in the light and lens industry, the most common replacement items are front and rear lights, grills and bumpers. Good luck in your search attempts.

i just bought a new headlamp/parking lamp assembly with the adjuster mount/bracket off ebay for $42 shipping included. the dealer wanted 50 for the adjuster bracket alone, which is what i needed. just look on there for the ones that have a buy it now price of 27. 95 then there is 16 bucks for shipping. still cheap for a whole new assembly. IMHO

For me the dealer is the last place I go, as they are way too expensive for parts unless you have someone on the inside to give you discounts. EBAY is probably the best way to get something like this, and sometimes even a good deal. Even try some of the wrecking yards, you'd be surprised what all they have but they too are also high in many of their prices.

My previous truck (1999)was at a repair garage and a wrecker unloaded a car and broke my rf light assembly. The body shop looked it up and said " I dont believe DC only charges 50. 00 for that lens, but it was true.

Well Rampage, you are in luck! Ever heard of CertiFit? They sell ONLY NEW body and trim parts (hoods, mirrors, headlights, tailgates, trim pieces, grilles, bumpers, etc)

A great place my local junk yard told me about.

I picked up a NEW 95 Silverado (was helping a friend with his wrecked truck) hood for $69. 00, and a NEW passenger side front fender for $35. 00  The parts are primed and everything, you can't tell a difference between them and an OEM part! I found 1 imperfection in the primer of the hood, was a simple fix with some sanding... In the store they have a display comparing (have the actual OEM and CertiFit part side by side) OEM parts to CertiFit parts, you will be impressed!

You should be able to get your part(s) for near nothing, and they have a location in your area (Chicago, right?).

HERE is the link for the Chicago location.

ADDRESS:

90 South Addison Road

Addison, IL 60101-3870

I am in no way associated with CertiFit, I am just a VERY satisfied customer of the Houston, Texas location... .

If you buy from them please post your thoughts about them (Just curious of others opinions of them)

BTW, they keep most of their parts in stock ;)
