Anybody else see where it said "no aircleaner" on the one dyno sheet?

You know you're makin some ponies when you take the air filter off. :)

Unless you are running a PDR 40 trying to suck air through a BHAF, and running some custom DD5's (200HP?).

I ran 416RWHP with BHAF, and 456. 9 without BHAF. Same gear, in the same 5 minutes. All I had time to do was,, do a 6th gear pull, then (hood was allready open), run around, yank off the intake (BHAF+Boot) and then hop in to do another run. (I don't recall my first run. . )

1st run, ??HP. 5th gear.

2nd run 416HP, 6th gear w/BHAF.

3rd run 456. 9HP 6th gear w/o BHAF.

Of course, the BHAF doesn't really flow that much air. It's kinda a sucky filter if you ask me. You can pick up an AFE Megacannon replacement filter for nearly the same price. That filter doesn't make much restriction.

If you don't take off your airfilter, nobody can have the chance to put a rock in it! :(

That's been proven to loose power before, not much though.

Jim
Jim,

Can you clarify on that... .

So taking the filter off you lose HP and not gain???

A rock is not good! :(

Was this person hunted down and beaten with a large steel object? If not they should have been.

DB

No he wasn't.

I'm not sure if it was just a kid playing with some rocks, and he happened to put a rock in my filter (The dyno was not too carefully guarded when trucks were being strapped/unstrapped), or if somebody really wasn't wishing me well.

Who knows?! As a result, I had to buy a new Lil '55, a New "Big Air", buy a new head, and have the motor rebuilt.

I should have checked in the air filter before re-installing it, but hindsight is 20/20.

First, it was slow spool-up, then low power, and high EGT, then, I couldn't build any boost when on the brakes and on the go pedal. Pulled my air filter, and saw the blades wiped right off the Big Air. Started tearing it down, and the Lil '55 was nearly the same way, but still resembled a turbo. Bought two new turbo's (ouch$!), and put them on. Fired up the beast after pre-oiling, and low and behold,,, KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK,,, seemed like a spun rod bearing, or a valve gone south. it ran smooth, so I put a couple miles on it,, and it got worse quick. Parked it,, saved up some money. Bought some new parts, better parts, and took it to Chris Strickland. The motor was in sad shape. Bent pushrods, bent connecting rods, sloppy loose rod bearings, and scarred, scraped, and cut pistons, piston walls, along with a cracked head.

It's almost done now. Should be running next week!

I don't want to beat the guy to a bloody pulp,, I just want to know why? I don't have alot of things. I have a family, and two fast trucks. I don't have a house, I don't really have anything fancy besides my two trucks. Why take that from me?

What did I learn? Don't trust anybody around your stuff. Keep your hood shut, and your mouth closed.

According to the two dyno sheets posted... ...

the truck made 583. 8 hp on injectors only, no airfilter at 6:38pm. 11 minutes later, at 6:49pm, the truck made 604/1173 with the redline box 100%.

Is this correct?

That's the same thing I learned on a dyno.

I sat on a broken dyno for about 3 hours while everyone walked around my truck and stuck their nose under the hood. When the day was over and I was done on the dyno I had a large scratch down the driverside quad door and no torque readings. :-{}

Now the hood stays shut and I'm pretty picky about who dyno's the truck.

Sorry to hear about the missfortune, hopefully you get it back up and running soon. :)
