Tax Question - Mileage Deduction

Our Dodge's are Doomed Now!

Well, I guess IM saying good by. I did not get a subscription renewal card or anything with this last magazine, and I guess IM just tired of the same old stuff here. My stuff better than yours, the put downs, flaming and what not. :-{} I know a lot of people will not agree with me but there are some that will that the site has most crenately has changed. And yes it is true the younger crowed is the ones changing the place and the ones that can get away with more. No IM not going to keep reposting to this statement I just made. All you have to do is just look at some of the posts and forums and do a search on some of the comments that were made about the changing of the place and a lot of unhappy people. While I have not had much trouble here I also only posted when necessary or had the right answer.

I also cant see paying $35 a year for a magazine that I have only red a few articles from. The reason being is it seems like a lot of mumble jumble just to get to the point of what they are trying to talk about. Plus there is no local chapter here in Pgh or any good get togethers, and just a lot of people shooting off there mouths.

How ever there are some good people around here. I know some will say put a club or chapter together your self, but I don't want the aggravation plus I don't have the time to do it. You all have gave me a lot of good ideas and bad ideas, and cost me a lot of money. :-laf Now I want to start saving up for a new truck and new Kenworth. Oo.

So IM saying thanks and good by.

After TDR dose the clean out of the no pays and what not I will not be able to post here, but I have an account over at oilburneres.

Good luck in the future Mike, I've enjoyed your posts and you have made me laugh quite a few times when I needed one.

take care :)

-Rich

Hey mike, I'll be talking to you. Good luck with your driving career. I know you are happy to be back in it!

BTW, are we the good local guys or the bad ones :-laf

watch out for rich, he is a bad influence :D

Well hate to see ya go... hate to see anybody go! Im sorry folks gave you a hard time. My $35 has saved me literal thousands this year. I was able to research a good transmission at a reasonable price. I might be in the "younger crowd" (not quite 30) but when I see a seasoned diesel guy leave I feel a slight sickness in my stomach. Kinna like dad just walked out of the garage and said" figure it out yourself... im done" It does aggravate me however when the seasoned guys are "tired" and want to give up. (weather its local chapter business or just of newbies) Contrary to popular belief, there are some of us youngens that think "well I'll be damn. . that guy said this would happen... and look theres that..... and oh crap thats..... and that leaking fluid must be. . Thats worth $35 to me. . and thats not some youngster "shootin off at the mouth" Im not slamming you personally (im slammin all you old farts... LOL kiddn) Seriously, thanks for the imput and advice. I don't know you but I'll bet you a dollar... for everyone that has given you a bunch of lip... 5 people will have benefited of a lesson learned. Think about that before you take off. BTW If your reading this I will assume you have a computer and internet acess. I think you can renew on line. my $0. 02

One of the young guys here (I'm only 42 :-laf ). Well... maybe I'm not so young... But anyway, I was just commenting on the immense value of the TDR to my buddy John (johnrv4) on Saturday. That was after John helped me fix my leaking vacuum pump seal. That's John, who I met through the TDR - who helped me with this repair - that I learned about on the TDR. If not for the TDR, I probably would have been clueless and ended up paying for a new $600. vacuum pump - which ended up costing me only $7. 50 for the seal kit from Cummins. That's all it cost me (plus I bought John lunch - which was WAY cheap for his help). Not to mention the fun we had visiting together while we did the repair and later when we had lunch. I also would probably be paying $45. for a fuel filter from the dealer if not for the TDR. I've saved more just on fuel filters than I'll ever pay for my TDR membership - probably for life. I could go on and on with similar examples. I'm not flaming you either - I wish you good fortune as you move on. But I just had to give my perspective of the value of the TDR for me. And I hardly even mentioned all of the great people I've met through the TDR - and some not in person yet. Sure, there are some negative things that happen here from time to time. But until you eliminate people from the equation, you can't get away from that altogether. I just ignore what I need to and benefit from the high percentage of positives here. Good luck finding something better.

As one of the Young guys here and at OB.net- I'm sorry for your leaving... . I mean, We would never get in a ******* contest at OB :-laf :-laf :-laf

Sad to see you go Truckie. I've enjoyed posting with you for the last couple years and I'm sorry I will no longer have the honor of your experiences in our TDR pool. I'm not an old guy but I try to act like one... kinda helps to maintain civility on the boards.

Well I am sorta an ole one Truckie sorry to see you go. Everything keeps changing these days we are getting older and these young ums are coming up. I guess I know how my dad use to feel now. :-laf

Sorry to hear that you won't be renewing Truckie. As to some people being allowed to get away with more if that is happening it surely isn't on purpose. We have been trying recently to clamp down more on antagonistic posting. With the volume of posts we get we can't read each and every post although we do try. If there are posts that are outside the guidelines we rely on the users to report them to us. We average around 800-900 posts a day every day with peaks of 1100. I truly think that the site hasn't changed that much. We had many more problems with users in the past. The difference is we now have more volume. Also once you've been around for a while you aren't looking for the content as much and see the "other" stuff more. Please do help us out by reporting stuff that you feel is outside the guidelines and we will do our best to look into it.

If you feel that the guidelines of the site come up short in some areas or have any recommendations of ways to improve either the site or the magazine please tell us. We do our best to be responsive to the wants/needs of the membership. Without your input we don't know that changes need to be made.

Bob - you have to look at the truth in numbers. The DTR site reports their user online count over an hour and a half window. The TDR uses the general industry accepted practice of a 30 minute window. Our peak traffic every day is Between 6:00 pm and 10 pm pacific time. If you look at 8:10 and go back an hour and a half you are getting a huge chunk of the peak traffic versus only going back 30 minutes. Actual traffic numbers for last month were 11,186,541 pages loaded on the TDR, 4,901,474 on DTR. # of visits to the site (which is based on a 30 minute period - if a user is away from the site for 30 minutes and then comes back that's counted as a seperate "visit) TDR - 529,338, DTR - 236,088. BTW, to compare our traffic numbers now to last year:

<table><tr><td></td><td>March 04</td><td>March 05</td></tr><tr><td>Pages</td><td>3,764,172</td><td>11,186,541</td></tr><tr><td>Visits</td><td>376,243</td><td>529,338</td></tr><tr><td>Bandwidth</td><td>319,249,627</td><td>405,596,925</td></tr></table>

The number of pages statistic is different now because this version of vB operates differently than the one we were running on then which makes a big difference so you can't use that for direct comparison. From 1 year ago our bandwidth usage is up 27% and our # of visits is up by 40. 6%.

Truckie-

I know what you mean- Its not just this site, but sadly it seems almost every facet of society. It bothers me too to see these kind of posts on a site that should be geared to the simple fun that owning a great truck and talking with others about the experience.

So the solution for me is to simply not open threads that I have a good feel that will PO me. Also not to respond to posts made by those who are rude, or not adding value to the forum.

Bottom line is that there is still a great number of people who are here for good reasons, and if we all just ignore the negative it will diminish.

I guess its a little going on vacation. I know I will deal with a lot of bad drivers, but the experience is worth the drive.

Truckie- hope you change your mind and hang. But if not happy trails... .

Man, on the subject of not getting a renewal notice, I dropped out of one organization

I was in because they called for a renewal every month or so even though you were

paid up for a year... and then tried to make you feel like the world was gonna end

if I didn't re-up and send lots of donations too - and it would be all MY fault.

not the place to get into all that, guess I'm just trying to see the bright side of that

issue. But, sorry to see anybody go.

Hi Truckie,

I do not ever recall getting a renewal notice. I still renewed. Yes you can do it online.

As Steve said the "older" guys may not post as often as they did, but, there is still a good search tool and that means that all the content is there.

I really don't know anyone's age, so I cannot make that judgement.

I would suggest that there is more asatisfaction in working to resolve a problem or what you percieve to be a problem than walking away from it. The heated osts are made by people. Most of them members of more than one board. The issue can only be solved by those people talking to others like they would like to be talked to.

Would love to have you stay.

AC

Well, after reading all the responses here and a lot of good points and what not I guess I could hang around for another year, I guess you guys talked me in to it, When I posted the original post I really was not thinking clear, that is probably due to being up 36 hours straight. I had a lot of things on my mind and was pretty cranky and crabby. I guess I need a break, Thanks to everyone for straightening me out.

OK enough for now, I got to got and get my 20 minutes of sleep now.

Thanks.

Mike
