I completley agree with the "you play you pay" policy. But... ..... Chrysler will screw people over on warrenty work.
I was a tech at the local dealer here, and have been told some crazy procedures by Chysler reps. First off, alot of small things are left to the judgment of the tech working on your vehical. Warrenty parts are put in a bin and sent to Chrysler for "evaluation". If you bring you truck in for a blown door speaker, and have a 1000w amp on them, the tech can say yay or nay..... lets say he gives you a new speaker and throws it in the bin, Chrysler gets it and determins it has a blown voice coil(not even knowing it had a amp on it) and checks it out OK. That was ALL the tech, he let it go... .
Here is a personal instance I worked on... ... a truck came in running rough and had low power. First thing we do is put a DRB on it and check the injector flow percentage, it reads #1 70%, #2 100%, #3 100%, #4 80%, #5 100%, and #6 20%. Chrysler gave me 1 injector and said to replace #6, and if it stops running rough to let it go... ... Then if it still idels rough, they will give me 1 more for #1..... and so on.
This is why warrenty takes so long. The tech can only do so much, and when it gets expensive, its all up to the white coats... . :-{} I have also seen tech void things that I thought were warrenteable. Thats just the way it goes... ... .
All I can say is make freinds at the dealer, and dont mod ANYTHING if you want warrenty work.
