I completley agree with the "you play you pay" policy. But... ..... Chrysler will screw people over on warrenty work.

I was a tech at the local dealer here, and have been told some crazy procedures by Chysler reps. First off, alot of small things are left to the judgment of the tech working on your vehical. Warrenty parts are put in a bin and sent to Chrysler for "evaluation". If you bring you truck in for a blown door speaker, and have a 1000w amp on them, the tech can say yay or nay..... lets say he gives you a new speaker and throws it in the bin, Chrysler gets it and determins it has a blown voice coil(not even knowing it had a amp on it) and checks it out OK. That was ALL the tech, he let it go... .

Here is a personal instance I worked on... ... a truck came in running rough and had low power. First thing we do is put a DRB on it and check the injector flow percentage, it reads #1 70%, #2 100%, #3 100%, #4 80%, #5 100%, and #6 20%. Chrysler gave me 1 injector and said to replace #6, and if it stops running rough to let it go... ... Then if it still idels rough, they will give me 1 more for #1..... and so on.

This is why warrenty takes so long. The tech can only do so much, and when it gets expensive, its all up to the white coats... . :-{} I have also seen tech void things that I thought were warrenteable. Thats just the way it goes... ... .

All I can say is make freinds at the dealer, and dont mod ANYTHING if you want warrenty work. :D

the truck owner should have taken more precautions than he did for such a serious case. take all the wiring harnesses out, put just a egt gauge in (not against warranty), cleaned engine compartment thoroughly, gotten rid of the excessicve amount of soot on the rear quarter panel. c'mon you got to cover your tracks.

Or find a dealer that beleives DC has got more money than all of us and get it fixed under waranty Even if your mileage is out. I did.

Friend of mine had a $1200 steering problem at 120,000+ miles. his truck had never been to a dealer, so the dealer put it in the computer at under 36,000 and got it done under warranty. He even left his Predator chip in but unplugged.

I couldnt agree more..... If I blow my motor I will replace both the intake that is tapped, and exhaust manifold. Take guages out and all my goodies and be like I don't know what happened :confused: :confused: ..... I went to pass someone and noticed the performance was down, and rough idle, with knock..... O did I mention the stream of oil that is coming from the exhaust... ... LOL ..... Give me a rental on dc dime Oo. Oo. ... . I will more than likely get kicked out of the dealer ship... But if they void me none the less I am willing to rebuild my engine, I would not pay some idiot 50 bucks a hr to do something I can do... ... They could do away with the warranty on stock new trucks and I would still buy a new one... Ford nor Chevy diesel engines compare... . Wes

well they story is that th truck was towed in from herb gordon dodge, cummins was to find the problem and report back, as far as i know the dealership knows that their is alot of metal in the oil, major internal damage has been done, just wating on the word of what to do next. oh and by the way, they box that was on it was a BANKS box... ... . nough said right there.

These trucks are not nearly as expensive as the Fords or Chevy's. I paid 31k for mine. For the same options I got, I'd have to pay at least 40k for a brand new chevy or ford. Lets be a little more realistic. :)

Honestly, I got a good deal on my truck too. But that's just because I found a dealer who actually made a deal. You don't see that much with the Fords or Chevys. But it is realistic because the sticker was over $40k. I would say $31K is more the exception than the rule with these trucks. Now who's being un-realistic? :)

I call BS on this one,All BANKS Tuners Six-Gun or PowerPDA have the harness attach to the Module,Also Only a Late version or PowerPDA Six-Gun would have been install in the engine compartment,All early versions would have been in cab,all Six-Gun and PowerPDAs have history and know valve ability. So if the customer is willing please send the Tuner to Us, I will check it for all known configuration's,No wiring would be left from either tune since it attach.

"O" I saw this ,and This ,"O" by the way ,Just waiting on what to next, this entire account is hearsay. What city is Gordon Dodge In. I will call them tomorrow and investigate further the matter and try get some facts.

I agree that you need to have a personal relationship with the service department, that will allways help when you need repairs. When I go in for service I make a stop at the bakery and pick up some goodies for the boys. They all know me by first name and I take special time to get to know the diesel tech and keep up on what is happing with his kids. I has taken a while but when I walk in the door they are right there to help. I own a 97 Caravan, 2000 Intrepid and picked up my 2nd diesel Aug 5th I have not had any trouble with the truck or obtaing warranty on any of my Dodges.

Thats a awsome example, I bet those guys will be there for you when you really need it. ;) Most people storm in the dealer yelling at everyone. Those are also the ones that get denied. :{

:p I'm sleeping with the warranty chick at the local Dodge dealership! Darn I'm resourceful!

Just kidding, but its a thought.

The service rep at my dodge dealer is hot and is married with kids. I don't care she was being flirty with me and I honestly would have taken her for a "ride" on her lunch break if the opportunity was there.

Ok I don't mean to bad mouth anyone but in all honesty this is not our vehicle and for all we now this is somebody that is not a member of TDR. WE SHOULD NOT BE INTERFERING WITH THE SERVICE OF THIS PERSONS TRUCK. DON'T CALL THE DEALER AND POTENTIALLY MAKE MATTERS WORSE FOR THE OWNER AND TECH (could get in trouble for posting this info we are enjoying sitting around the campfire talking about) lets not talking to dealer cuz I want future stories from this tech who submited this so I can be informed of other cases. I paid for this membership to TDR to be informed not to cost someone alot of money by harrassing dealer with diesel info so they and other dealers can deny more claims nor do we need to cause this tech to lose his job. So lets just try to give people the respect the deserve.
