check it without a reader - I mean I thought there was a way to read the code on the dash with a key manipulation..... also where is a list of codes once we get it?????

Thanks

The Key trick no longer works on the 2006 and newer. You have to use a code reader or take it to the dealer.

That stinks, did they change the codes as well?

the local Auto-Zone will let you borrow a OBD scanner to read and clear codes

Is the truck stock? daytripper63's list does not include the code that I will bet that it is, P0191 Fuel rail pressure sensor performance. I see a lot of 06 trucks comming through the shop that set this code. there is a TSB/Flash for this if it is. The truck requires use of the StarScan to retrieve codes.

It could be daytripper63, mine was mfg'd in Oct 2005. I wonder if the early 2007's have the feature? I cannot recall if I have read anyone trying with a 2007 model. Taking away the ability to read your codes - chalk one up to job security.

If you know someone with a Smarty, they can read them and clear them too. Good thing is that Auto Zone and Checker have them and are open on Sundays.

We need a STICKY up top or somewhere to list ALL these differences in same year models. PITA.

Key method works on my 06. Might be worth a try. Only gives you one shot though, so look quick. It won't display stored codes.

You might need TSB 18-022-06. It is for P0514 Battery Temp Sensor Rationality, whatever that means.

Thanks for the help - but my son's truck apparently

won't show the code... ... the light has went off and apparently he had the reflash done for the battery and low fuelline pressure,,,HOWEVER can one check online to seee ehat has been done with the truck?????

ALSO - since the light has went off - has the problem went away i. e. does he have to take it in to teh shop????????

The key trick does not work on my '06. Disconnecting the batteries overnight will not turn off a check engine light either. My '06 was built in march of '06. I guess that must make it a late '06.

The best way to keep track of these new Rams and any other newer car or truck is to bite the bullet and buy an inexpensive scanner that reads and erases codes. Sears just had a sale where you could get a basic scanner for about $80.

Since I finally bought a scanner, the shroud of mystery is gone.

If you do any of your own work, I recommend this tool.

Not true! The recall is a flash for the MIC and the FCM. The fix for the erroneous codes is The ecm

Bob

I can read it on the dash on my 06. The dealership said I can't, but there it is, in all it's glowing glory! My truck was built in 05.

after like 8 or 10 key cycles if there is no major problem the cel will go out but the code is still stored til you get it cleared with a code ready... . if you go to a parts store to have them check it with a scanner make sure the scanner does can-bus because dodge switched to can-bus from obd2 in 06 hope this helps

Jdarr

and all you guys thanks a lot - especially for the factory service manual site... ... . I dowloaded it. . and put her on a DVD for my son..... that's fantastick.....
