Drawson,

Let us know how you like it.

Whats the HP rating?

I'm going to be in the market for a new clutch soon. I'm leaning towards the SB too.

This clutch has a brass alloy pucks for friction material. Peter told me that is is holding 475 HP and around 1100 FP or torque.

Please let me know what your thoughts are on the directions to install the pressure plate. Was it simple? Is there something we can do to make it easier? According to other rammers who have used other companies Sachs covers, centering was a problem. I hope what we did made it easier for you. Peter

I don't like the idea of a ceramic, but the brass is interesting. Let us know how it performs. I had a ceramic clutch in a KW I had. It would lockup good, but when trying to take off on a hill it would jerk the crap out of you, drivetrain, and truck.

Peter this centering idea looks super!!!! It will be in a week from Saturday & I'll let you know how it holds. Any break in suggestions?

No,you should be able to just GO-GO-GO. Do be very careful when putting the trans. in not to bend the disk, this can cause a chatter and release problem. Good luck on the install! Peter

Suprised S. B. didnt coment
Ceramic pucks __NO slippiage
Brass pucks --can slightly be slipped.
If you need to slip-- in the case of rev/steep hill/overdrive transmission use organiac faceing.
If your trying to get off the line min. Ceramic's in this case the clutch is ether engaged/or/dis-engaged... ... .

Actualy, The organic facing is a woven or molded lining, where as brass pucks are very abrasive and rough on the flywheel and pressure plate castings causing a more agressive contact. The ceramic puck has the brass, ceramic, and a carbin fiber such as the Meba button wich causes less friction to the castings creating less grooving to the applied surfaces. In the tracter pull clutch's we build the brass pucks grab harder but don't last as long because of the grooving.

I should have stated, drawson has ceramic pucks for the pupose of tring to make engagement as smooth as poss. using a button stile disk. If you have any questions or input on this, feel free to call me at 1-800-988-4345. Peter

Hi peter
I called you this morning about a clutch for my 99. What Hp. and Torque will the clutch you quoted me on hold? Does the disc look like the one pictured above? To refresh your memory you quoted me 525.

George, the clutch I quoted you on is an organic material with brass woven through the lining. The benafit to this style is, the facings are rivited to fins that have a wave in them. This wave is called marcel which gives a cushion affect when the pressure plate casting is applied or "letting up on the clutch peddle". With our altered pressure plate for maximum plate load without creating peddle effort this kit will hold up to 350hp. We felt you did not have to spend more then you need. We try hard not to be one dimensional, everyone does not have to empty thier pockets to get a better clutch. Thanks for the call. Peter

Thanks Peter, I always appreciate it when someone else is watching out for my wallet!
Just out of curiosity, what are the benefits of the next step up as well as the cost?
With my VA and future stage II injectors won't I be getting close to the limits on that unit? I just want to make sure I'm educated on all my options.

George, with what we have to work with on the 5sp trucks the other clutch's we offer will simply hold more hp and torque but lack in the smoothness of takeoff when not useing 1st gear. The heavy hitters need this type of setup to hold thier power. Until I come up with a more comfotable clutch for the hp this is what it is. Peter

George,
With your VA and future install of stage II's,you'll still be around 320 power level. That clutch should still be plenty.

Mike, thanks for the help. We are still trying to learn what all the stages mean in houres power and torque. We are finding alot of different views. Turbo upgrades seem to make a big difference in the higher speeds. Dr. Performance just faxed us info on hp increase with what stage 1,2,3,4,5. This kind of info will help us determine what clutch kit is best for their truck. Any other info would be much appreciated. Our fax# 1-219-256-2568. Peter

I got it in today and all I can say is WOW #ad

There is a little shutter starting out in 2nd at idle. It is gone it I raise the speed to 1200 RPMs or so. It is great to be able and use the power in put in back in Oct. In fact tonight after getting it done I went for joy ride(fast:cool #ad

The centering set up that Peter has worked out is outstanding. I put a dial indicator on it just for grins after just bolting it up and the run out was within . 0005.

There is no slippage in any gear and the peddle pressure is only about 10% heavier than stock.

The old Luk Pro Gold must have been slipping slightly even before it slipped, because it had developed a vibration anyting I was 1/2 throttle or more right up to where the RPMs just climbed. There is no vibration now at all.

Thanks Peter for the great product!!!!!! #ad

Now the down side... . I am running 42 pound of boost right now which is right at the limits for the HX35. So time to start saving for a HX40. Will this ever end??? #ad
