Thought I'd pass on some personal opinions about South Bends Clutch which I have had in my truck for about a month now and 2000 miles. Got to Dyno my 2001 HO at performance Edge's new Mustang Dyno and the results were 376 HP and 898 ft. lbs. of torque at rear wheels. The clutch held up find with no slippage. Only problem which I reported earlier, was starting in 2nd gear the clutch sometimes shutters until rpm is at 1100. No big deal!!! If you start in 1st. no shutter. Peter at South Bend tells me they are working on an improved clutch which will eliminate this problem and should even be stronger. I'm planning some more future up-grades to get up to the 400HP mark. I believe this clutch will be able to handle this. I'm just glad we have Joe Donnely, Mcleod, South Bend and others out there working on our clutch problems to be able to increase our enjoyment of our new found power.

Here's a quick question - I heard that the 99' 6 speeds have a different diameter imput shaft, so can I get one of these clutches for my 99' 6 speed ? (30,000 stock engine & no slippage, just ordered upgrades and may need a new one in the near future)

The 99 6 speed should have the same 1. 25 x 10 input as the 5 speeds. The Sachs hub is the strongest one I know of that will work, and it gives good vibration dampening.

Man, I need a clutch BAD!!!

The stock one in my 2001 ETH is starting to show the signs of getting beat up by 350 Dark Garnet horses...

My goal right now is for 400 HP with NO electronic mods, and I need something to get all that power to the ground. Right now, it feels like I am getting barely 300 to the ground. So what is there available on the ETH clutch market? The one mentioned above sounds awfully nice... Price? Flywheel resurfacing? Give me the straight dope, guys! #ad

Thanks in advance!

When will this "new & improved" clutch be available, who will carry it for the best price, and how much will that be? #ad

My next two steps are a 4" exhaust and then some injectors, so after that, I'll need a clutch before I can add anymore power.

Rob

Evan, I researched clutches for a few months recently and ended up deciding on Joe Donnelly's modified sachs clutch. Two of my friends also went with it. Briar Hopper already has his in and loves it, and Gene Mohney and myself have ours and are getting them installed Feb 14th & 15th. There are others out there already running his clutch and I haven't heard of any complaints yet. Gene and I will be pulling a sled with ours in June so we'll get some abuse feedback then.

Evan Beck. . the price for the South Bend clutch is $875 plus $25 for shipping. Its a ceramic disk with kevlar pilot bearing.

Rob G... Peter at South Bend says the prototype of the new and improved clutch is being tested right now. . Current price around $1000, however, when they go into full production the price should drop about $200.

You can call Peter at South Bend for more information. . 800-988-4345
