Well I FINALLY got my SPA gagues installed (DG211 and DG212). Now I'm looking for advice on settings and what exactly I am looking for in terms of readings. My truck is a 2001. 5 2500, 4WD, Auto, LSD, 4:10. Here are the specifics:

Boost - If I understand correctly, this should be 0 at idle and a max of 20psi for a stock truck. Is this correct? Is there a threshold that I should be worried about going over?

EGT - I installed post-turbo. I have my over temp set at 900 degrees F. I've also read that I should wait for EGTs to get below 300 degrees F before shutting down. Is this correct? Anything else to look for?

transmission Temp - Installed in the HOT crossover line. What should I be running at? When do I worry?

Fuel Pressure - Installed via a hose to the Shraeder Valve. I'm currently seeing 14. 3 at idle (just changed my filter) and 8-10 with moderate acceleration. What is too low? What should I set the alarms at?

I'm also looking for any SPA specific advice on setup such as avering times, sensor types, peak values, etc.

Thanks for the help on this and to all those that helped with questions along the way. I promised myself I'd stay stock until I ran with my gauges for a little while in order to get a baseline. Hmmm, maybe one days worth of data is enough of a baseline, where can I get a PE EZ cheap : )

Glad to see your gauge install went ok.

Boost:

The highest recall on my SPA when the truck was stock was 20. 5. With the EZ it can spike up to 31 but it won't stay there. The recall shows 31 but I have never seen it on the read out. It must be so fast and falls back I never see it that high. Normally when I do get on it. It peaks or stays right at 26 or 27.

EGT's:

Depending on your outside air temps. I usually wait till <350 post turbo. During the summer I might have to wait up to more than two minutes. To help things out I turn off the A/C as soon as I turn in the subdivision.

transmission Temp:

Normal in town temps run around 120 to 160. On the interstate I have seen as low as 105 ... . empty. Pulling a load I have seen as low as 115 pulling steady 70mph on I-10.

Fuel:

I am seeing 14 at idle and can pull it down to 8 WOT. Pulling a load I have seen it get close to 7 at the crest of the hill.

The only thing I changed on the digital gauges is the averaging for the fuel gauge. I lowered it so the readout was not jumping around so much. My fuel gauge only has hi and low. But I know the SPA's have more than two settings. Change it and see what works for you.

If and when you put the EZ on. You will see that your EGT's will be less than stock. The extra boost pressures will help. I have yet to get over 1200 pre with the EZ. Load or no load!

Hope this helps,

Barry

Take and read through all of the different features. When I first put my guages on, the boost read -1 at idle. I found the feature that "ZEROS" the guage to the sending unit. I did this and all is well. I agree with barry in that I got rid of the decimal point. I also put a small (. 030") drilled plug in the fuel pressure hose to slow down the fluctuation. I would go to a trans shop or email DTT to find out the max trans temp. You can get them hot quick when they are out of lock-up. I wouldn't worry about over-boost, you won't see anything dangerous with a stock turbo. I LOVE mine... Everyone that sees them goes ... . WOW!!

WHERE did you find a place to tie onto the HOT side of the trans line??? LET ME KNOW.
