Well, the speculators are alive and well. Oil back over $43.

OH yeah - and look at what it took in the overall economy to get even what we have! Fuel costs will rise like a rocket, as fast and FASTER than the economy does - and now, the government wants to increase fuel taxes by 50%...

Panel wants fuel taxes hiked to fund highways: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

And here in Oregon, and a few other states, government wants to install sattelite GPS gadgets in all vehicles so they can start taxing moterists by the mile...

We're gonna have new ways by the thousands, for new ways for various groups to take a deeper bite outta our bank accounts - as well as new centralized, global controls over world-wide finance and banking...

Brace yourselves for new shifts in world-wide efforts towards centralized finance, government and military control as you would never have imagined 10 years ago - all under the catalyst of current financial upheaval...

I saw the story on the news about the tax by the mile in Oregon. (Cant wait for it to happen in Washington. Surprised we didnt do it first)

For the mileage tax, its bad enough that they are getting more into our pocket. But, with mileage tracking, the ramifications are much deeper than that. I just cant believe that the aclu isnt going after that. Can you imagine what the gov will now know about you ? And what they can do with that kind of information ? There was a time in this country when that would have sparked a violent revolution.

We are not talking about additional security measures in time of war here. We are talking about total government control of your daily life. Now insurance companies can raise your rates because of where, when, and how far you drive. You can become a suspect in any kind of case because they can now prove where, when you've been. etc. Even communist China and Communist Russia didnt have this kind of tracking at their worst.

Just my 2 Cents

A pair of related pointers to recent articles:

Pentagon to Detail Troops to Bolster Domestic Security

FT.com / Columnists / Gideon Rachman - And now for a world government

Combine use of active-duty troops and a world government - and the spectre of foreign (UN?) troops patrolling our USA streets to enforce "World Government" rule isn't all that farfetched...

To those reacting with "Chicken Little" accusations - just wait a while! ;)

All the basics are in place, and now, it's just a matter of time!

And don't forget, that with GPS tracking, they will always know how fast you are going in every speed zone. No need for radar guns or traffic cops. #@$%! Randy
