I am trying to test my speed sensor ( the one on the harmonic balancer). I have a green , red , and black wire. I am trying to figure out where these wires go and what they do?

Also I am looking for the alt pulley size. Long story but I think I have the wrong pulley on my alt.

thanks

In my 96 service manual ground from PCM black/light blue, sensor signal grey/ black and supplied voltage (5 volts) violet/white. (The second color would be a stripe. )

Pulley?

I guess where the sensor plugs in it changes to the other colors. I do not have these wires. If you look at the sensor itself it has the red green n blk wires. So basically I need to know at the sensor conector what wire does what.

thanks

In the service manual it shows the connector to be round the teminals are two on the bottom one on top/middle. Top no. 1 terminal =5volt supply, left/bottom no. 2 terminal = sensor signal and right/bottom no. 3 terminal = ground. See if this is the same as yours, may be they just change the color of the wires.

You can unplug the connetor and using multi-meter look for the terminal that supplies power.

To find the ground put one of the multi-meter probes on the positve battery post and check the other two terminal for ground.

That leaves the third to as the signal wire.

thank you that is what I was looking for now i have to see if you were talk looking at the plug from the front or looking from the back side for #2 and # 3

thanks again...
