tbrmbramr, this is off subject here, but what are you doing on your vac. over hyd. brake system, using stock vac. pump?. From reading your post, you pull trailers. I'm considering doing same since I'm sorta semi-retired. Would you care to comment on getting into this type work. Any advice would be much appreciated. Please feel free to respond by e-mail. Thanks in advance.

Ronnie

FYI
I have seen alot of these units on industrial Natural Gas engines and they work OK. But they are only effective down to about 15 Micron and are limited by the thickness of the build up on the paper ring inside. If you clean them regularly they can remove most of the carbon and heavier particles in the oil but don't take care of water or other contaminants in the size range under 15 Micron which are passed by your stock filter.
There are filters made by Harvard that can filter down to 1-2 Micron absolute, now don't quote me. With side stream filters you can drastically improve your oil life, but it is costly. Harvard for a Cummins is about $400 Us and the canister is about 4" in dia and 8" long. The elements are about $150 ea. As with any oil filtration system, you should set up an oil analysis program.
If you want more info on Harvard or other filters, we have a guy here in the office that is a member of the STLE (Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers) that can give us a hand.
My $0. 02 worth.
Happy Holidays!!!

I think a centrifugal oil filter is a great idea! I also think it is overkill for the average ram. The only place i've seen and serviced them is on Mack trucks, as part of an extended duty package. the regular mack has 2 spin on filters, and the package adds the "centri-max" as its called. This is serviced not nearly as often as the regular filters. It looks like whats on the website, but the can is the drain where a hose hooks up and leads back to the pan. If Mack uses it, it has to be a good idea!

Dog:
There's a guy here who sells the Harvard Bypass filtration system for automobiles/ trucks and his prices are not nearly as $$$ as the ones you quoted... I wonder if we're talking about the same product? I looked at the Harvard bypass filter and it appears to be a better product than the Amsoil bypass filter that I now use. I'm gonna explore this because I'm a believer in bypass filtration. TTYL
