2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Sport grille on a non sport truck

Hi, I have been looking for information about installing a sport grille on a non sport truck. I did this on the 99 but it was kinda jerry rigged, it didn't fit the non sport bracket without some fanagling. I want to do put a sport grille on my current ride but am wondering if there is an easier way. I have a custom bumper that was made to work with the sport grille, so no issues there.Thanks for any info.

Check LMC Truck. They may have the sport brackets and hardware. If you can find the download for part #s, you can find the parts that are specific to the sport.

When I did this to my '95 I just need to get a longer hood release rod. I had the sport grille frame. Also needed to trim the bumper but you have that issue taken care of. Had to also trim the mounting bosses to get the grille to fit closer to the hood.

Just paint your chrome grill. No one will know the difference. LOL

The sport grille doesn't have the four bolts on the side of the grille frame it has a row of bolts on the bottom of the grille just like on the top of the regular grille you might could change the whole grille frame out to a sport frame

I like the contour of the Sport grille and sometimes think of putting one on my SLT. But my hangup is I'm not quite as fond of the Sport bumper, prefer the SLT, but the Sport grille doesn't integrate with it.

My old truck, with sport grille on it, stock chrome bumper.Somewhere in Nevada now. It will work just takes a little bit of work. Other two pictures are the grille I have now,a black non sport grille.you can see the bumper was made to work with a sport grille. I bought it a few years back from a guy that made it for his 2nd gen sport.When I had it on the old truck it worked perfectly with no gap. Looked at LMC truck but not really wanting to spend what they want. Over $100 for just the bracket is insane. Gonna check out the junkyards

Where did you get the cummins grille emblem ?

There is a bunch on ebay. Just punch in cummins grille emblems. Think they are around $20. And I like it better than the ram emblem!

Thanks for the reply I got one already just wondering if you got yours on eBay to ? Mine tried to fall off but I black rtv it and shes stuck now .

Never had a problem with mine falling off, got two already and when I finally do a sport grille I'll get a third one. They are cheaper than what LMC wants for the stocker ram emblem

Ya I was going to get the ram emblem but I was searching around on eBay and found th cummins emblem and I aws glad I got It instead . I am going to get another one or my other truck to .
