My first impression is that air is getting into the fuel system. Don't know what they could have done to make that happen, unless they fooled with your fuel filter for some reason. How long has the problem been going on? Does it idle rough?

Is it possible they reflashed your ECM while they had it in?

Hey folks, my rig has a new spray paint can sound that started up right around 2000K. It also just came out of the shop, they recalibrated the speedo and shot more darts at the steering problem. Just sounds clangy in the valve area now. My mpg went downhill also. Could they have screwed something up with thier diagnostic equiptment?

Doc, It is very possible that they reflashed the PCM when it was in. I don't think they messed with the fuel filter at all. They recalibrated the speedo and mabey set everthing back to ground zero. Dunno

Paul,
As Doc mentioned, it might be they reprogramed your ECM. I had my'99 in for some 'other' work and felt that I was having more difficulty in keeping my fuel milage up (with a little effort kept 18 mpg even with city driving). In addition, there's been a paint-can rattle or chain clinking sound that neither the wife or I recall the truck having in the first 8K miles. If my dealer reprogramed my ECM, he failed to identify the modification per DC instructions.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they did it and didn't want me to know. Since the only time the truck has been out of my sight is when I've left it with the dealer, I suspect (can't legally prove) they damaged the paint over the rear quad door, sloopy job of patching it, and didn't tell me because it was a poor repair.

Anyways, I digress. Since you don't have a 'driveability' complaint, you may find your concern falling on deaf ears.
