Mild BOMBing Setup for Towing

Goodyear tire blow out.

Have a Reese 5'er hitch on a y2k 3500,4x4,trailer pkg,camper pkg.

The "keeper" on the rear of the overload springs shows that it has hit one of the bolts holding the hitch rails to the frame. Doing it on both sides. I looked at a 2500 and he didn't have any keepers on the springs.

Should I take 'em off?

These are the "u" type clamps on each end of the overload springs.

Thanks for any comments.

You can probably get along without them. If you want to be sure, run it into a spring shop. They could probably make up some that didn't hit your bolts (If you need them). Spring work is usually not very expensive.
