Spring wrap

[Ram3500HD]

I have a 2017 ram 3500 regular cab 4 x 4 with a six speed G56 manual. When I use reverse while my trailer is on the truck, the truck jumps up and down as if I'm getting serious spring wrap. The truck is brand-new and doesn't even have 500 miles on it. Has anyone experienced this? And if so is there a solution to the problem?

What most people do is buy a BD 2 low kit or a free spin hub kit so they can use low range when backing a trailer.

Is the truck and trailer actually moving when this happens?

It's a common problem with standard transmission pickups while backing heavy loads. With my previous Dodge trucks, I'd use 4wd when backing up when necessary. It's nothing out of the ordinary.

Henderson mentioned a solution. I have one as well. 2wd low range is awesome.

An alternative would be to put it in 4 Lo. I often do this when backing a heavy load, especially up a hill.

Get the BD kit. You thank Henderson and me later. Allows trans case to be in 4 LOW with with front axle dis-engaged. No more bucking front the front axle on hard surfaces.

I put my truck into 4 low when backing up a steep hill loaded. No problems with it jumping or anything... I also have the G56

Unless you are turning your front tires on pavement there is no issue using 4 low. Yes the 2 low kit would be better.

Why is this not for 2013 2500's? Is it because there is no CAD? Or because it is not electronically activated?

BD 2 low kit requires CAD. No cad requires a complete locking hub kit.
