I have searched and searched, but I am growing tired of the "Sorry, no matches found. " reply.

My problem is that when I turn my wheels far left or right, I get a squeak that seems to be coming from the driver's side and dependent on RPM of the tire. I cannot find a single point where my tires might be rubbing anything. Prior to KORE, my 315s would rub on the lower control arms and cause the most horrible noise. This is very different.

I am wondering if this noise might be caused by an axle u-joint? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i had a similar problem after my 3 inch lift/level kit and i was told by the shop that it was bushings and could not be fixed with out expensive poly bushings and another shop( same company different location) said ya i know what that is and fixed it in like 15 minutes

so the same company had another shop that does more volume of business and sees more problems had the fix

sorry i cant rem what it was though but i am sure u get my point

I've got kind of a mystery noise too at low speed full lock. It's sort of a low squeek/howl almost like a brake drum with a dragging brake. I've checked calipers, bearings, U joints, etc. and can't track it down.

Well I realigned the sway bar link on the driver's side and lubed the tie rod ends with no success curing the squeak. I am thinking axle u-joints or pitman arm "ball joint. "

Any takers or other experiences?

It is the u-joint I have the same problem with mine and it turned out to be a bad u-joint. Do yopu have any brown dust on the wheel?

Hey thanks for the help, Brian. I see nothing on my wheels that looks like anything but regular old brake dust. I got a can of silicon and sprayed every joint and bushing to no avail. My last option is to do a little disassembly and grease the bushings to see if that helps any, before I go deep into the suspension like axle u-joints. But, I am afraid you are certainly correct. I just want to eliminate the cheap options before it gets expensive. If you get yours fixed let me know. Thanks again.

I had a squeak up front on my 04. It turned out to be the u-joint, It was while I had it all apart that I decieded to convert it to lock out hubs ( EMS kit )

Thanks for the replies guys. I just made an appointment with the dealer for tomorrow to have it diagnosed. I am pretty sure you guys are right. Money is voluntarily tight right now, so I figure I've still got the 70k power train warranty, why not let them fix it for the $100 deductible. I'll let them break the hub free and if they ruin it, so be it. At least it should come off easier when I finally put some greaseable u-joints on there. I'll let you know what the outcome is. Thanks again.

Still waiting for them to call with a diagnosis. The service writer seemed to lean toward a bearing issue. I told them squeaks in front suspension, so I would hope that they would check out the entire front.

On a side note, when I was in the parts dept picking up a transmission filter, I asked the parts manager if Dodge had come out with lube-able u-joints yet, knowing full well what the answer was. He replied that he hadn't heard anything. I then asked if they replace a lot of u-joints and he emphatically said no, even going so far as to say that it was scary how few they actually did replace. Now this guy seemed genuine and I believe him. But I think the kicker is that so few people know their vehicles, or have any type of mechanical knowledge and they just drive with stuff so bad until it just breaks.

Service just called and thinks it's the driver's u-joint and maybe ball joint issues but asked for more time. Looks like they're going to have it overnight with no resolution for me. More to follow.

They go early all the time. Doesn't mean he's misleading you... could be less common down south vs. salty roads, etc. I kind of think maybe they had a bad batch of seals. My drivers side was dry and rusting at well under 100K. Other side was OK but I replaced both anyway. At least 150K on these with no worries. Used stock... found greasables but the wider body wouldn't fit into the yoke during assembly... Beware.

I'd like to see someone come out with joints that are greasable thru the caps. It would solve the small body problem. Grease goes past that point w/hollow body anyway.

Good fabricator could probably sell a lot of them... hint, hint.

Pretty sure as well that ball joints aren't covered, but on 4WD the u-joints should be under the 70K power train. I'll have them repair the u-joints for now under warranty, even with the non-greaseable ones. But if they say my ball joints are bad, I'll probably buy greaseable ones and do those myself. Save a bunch of money, I am sure.

Diagnosis: Driver's U-joint. Didn't call until after lunch and said it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow sometime.

I would normally be ticked off, but I know how much time it can take to get that hub off. But this still seems like an abnormally long time to diagnose and repair an axle u-joint, yes?

thats the reason i got rid of my 06 with a warrenty. the simplest thing can take days at the dealers. is it covered?

An axle joint should take about 5 minutes to check from the time they start it up out in the parking lot to the time they return it there.
