I know it's not a diesel but I thought some of you may like to hear how it did.

SAE corrected:

421. 1 HP @ 5370

465. 5 TQ @ 3930

It ran a 14. 4 1/4 mile which was really no indication of what it was capable of. The driver was on the track for the first time and his launch was REAL conservative.

Those are good base lline numbers. And since you said the driver was conservative think of what she'll (the truck) do when the driver(s) get the feel of it and the track! Also figure it most likely breaks the wheels loose at least half way down the track... if they can get one to hook HARD off the line... LOOK OUT!

C&D did the usual test etc of course comparing it to the lightning... and it is faster... . of course it does have 100 more HP. I'd bite if I was in the market for something like it!

One of the guys on another Dodge site ran a 13. 51 at 106 mph with his. His 60 foot times were in the 2. 2 range. He said it was extremely difficult to launch. I think he would be capable of 12. 80s with slicks. Most of the Lightnings around here are running high 12s with less than $700. 00 in mods and launch very well with the automatic trannies. Hopefully some of the aftermarket Viper guys will step up with mods for the truck soon. I would love to have an SRT but at a list price of 45,000. 00 I would probably buy another diesel.

I happened to Dyno a 2003 Lightning on Saturday as well. 357/425. It was stock with the exception of a K&N. He was running 13. 60's.

I've seen numbers like that on stock Lightnings before. I think Ford underrated that truck a little. The 03 was rated at 380hp from the factory and 357hp would be a little too close for me to believe that after you factor in driveline losses. I'm betting they make more like 400 to 420 at the flywheel which would be around 350 at the rear wheels.

I believe Hennessey (sp) has a twin turbo setup for the Viper... should be able to get it for the truck too? :) Might hit it to about 800 HP if memory serves. I think the hennessey viper '600' is naturally aspirated and still hits 600HP and 600+ ft/lbs tq. so you know MUCH more can be squeezed out of that V-10/

I would call Nick at TNT. He use to work for Mr. Hennessey and left to start his own place. Nick saw many things while working there that he didn't like, and took off for bigger things, while not burning any bridges along the way. He is a super nice guy, and a pleasure to deal with, even though he does drive a Ford! :p

He also had "The Worlds Fastest Viper" at one point.

I could buy a 04 regular cab cummins fully loaded with leather ect for 10k less than the SRT, then dump that extra 10 grand into the engine/ trans and end up with a truck that will smoke the SRT at the track and still pull a 14k trailer. :D Dont get me wrong, I think its a cool truck, but for that kind of money I would much rather have a bombed cummins that has a lot more uses. :D
