according to my dealer a 6' or 8'.

They will offer the short box, SRW only, at least initially. The truck is on the qc long bed chassis, with a short bed put on to make up for the extra length in the cab. So no 8' bed, only the 6. 3'.

This thread seems to have altered itself a bit, so what bed length is on the new ,large door, 4 door 3500 trucks?

By large 4 door truck, if you are refering to the 2006 mega cab, it will only come in the short box (6'-3"). The current (2003-2005) quad cab is available in either the short box or long box (8'). I assume that they will continue to offer the existing quad can in all of it's configurations in 2006.

Yes I am. The mega cab will not be offered with a 8 ft bed and dual wheels. Just what Scott just said. That was my original point.

Thanks.

Tractor Seller,

How come you are selling your Duramax? How do you compare the two? I. E. Milage power ect. The other thing I noticed is that you have a turnover ball. Our truck which I purchased used, has one also. We are going to buy a 37 foot fifth wheel Toy Hauler and do not know whether the ball is the way to go or not. We have been slide in camper people and the kids are gone so we have the money for bigger toys! Thanks Ron

I sold it because I usually get a new truck every year for tax purposes (179 deduction). I wanted leather, a front bench seat, and a 6-speed. I couldn't get that with Chevy. Their LT package w/leather only comes with front buckets and an auto. My Chevy was a good truck. If I wanted another auto with buckets I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I love this Dodge though. Great steering, smooth ride, quiet, powerful, Cummins - can't go wrong. Only complaint I have is the launch shudder - it's alot worse with a heavy load :( .

I like the B&W with my fifth wheel because I also pull goosenecks. I have the Pop-Up GN/5th wheel adaptor mounted to my fifth wheel, but I think I'm going to buy a B&W Companion hitch and get rid of the Pop-Up before I go on vacation this summer. The guys on this forum have scared me about tearing up my fifth wheel pin box with the Pop-Up.

My opinion: SRW = death with a rear blowout with that kind of load.

DRW = Cuss and buy a new tire and continue happily on your way.

Thats just how I see it.

4", not enough in my opinion.

The 48RE will be up to the task especially with 4. 10, good choice. This from conversations with mechanics / owners.

Get the DRW and live.

I agree. good advice.

Anyone know what's up with that launch shudder?? Is it because of the split shafts with the carrier bearing or what? I was going to question the dealer the next time I was in.
