I have been looking at the Stable Lift system for loading and unloading my 4,000 lb plus pickup camper and got to wondering if any of you pickup camper owners out there have bought or used their system. It is the one that uses the steel pipes and electric motors. It appears to be ideal when you take your pick up camper off and on regularly. Any comments?

Dewdo;

I put the Stable Lift on my 3200# El Dorado slide-in camper and married it to my other truck - an '86 Ford F250. It more or less works as advertised, but here is what I don't like about it:

* It's ugly and very heavy

* The truck looks wierd with the camper off and the 4 U shaped bracket hanging down

* To get the spare tire off, you have to lower the pipes

* To change a flat tire, you have to raise the camper and drive the truck clear (the vertical pipes are close to the wheels)

* My exhaust exit pipe location had to be changed so it wouldn't be directly on the white pipes

* At least in my case, the Stable Lift still requires the two original jacks at the back of the camper to be used. My roof AC is on the back of the camper causing the center of gravity to be farther back than can be compensated for by adjusting the Lift - this is a real pain plus adds the additional weight of carring around the rear jacks when travelling

These are only my opinions after owning one. If I were to do it again, I'd go with 4 electric corner posts and a good under the frame tie down system.

Thanks for the information. I will check into the concerns you mentioned. I Don't mind the physical appearance if the thing makes loading and unloadin easier and less stress on my wife. She gets upset every time I load or unload the camper. I watched the fellow I met that had one and he seemed to really love his system. My camper weighs over 4,000 lbs and the so called Happi Jax get a bow in them when I put that much weight on them when they are extended. I have the 4 X 4 so I am at the redline when I load and unload it. Hope to hear from someone with a similar size set up. Thanks again for the feed back.
