Someone asked about the soot showers and rain getting inside.

Its been raining ridiculous amounts here in Georgia and my truck has been sitting outside in it with the stacks wide open and no problems, I haven't taken a soot shower yet.

I meant to drill a small hole in the bottom of the 90* elbow that is under the bed for drainage but I forgot and now I don't think I really need it.

I'm more than pleased.

RJ, how did you post your pics? I resized mine and chose copy, then tried to paste it to my reply but paste isn't an option when I right click.

I opened them in paint and went to "Stretch/Skew" and made them smaller then Save As. Then on TDR Post Reply and Manage Attachments, then Browse, find the pic and upload.

Once its done uploading the file should be in the "Manage Attachments" box, hit "Submit Reply" and they should be on there.

Short and sweet

It's different but I like it. No flashy chrome for me. I got the idea from the Auto Wurks Diesel race truck. It looks better in person and you know how it sounds. Pictures are biggest allowable by TDR.



RJ, I kept downsizing the pic because it was saying too large. That's the biggest it would let me. What's the deal?

If that is just one pic file and not two individual pictures the width is probably the issue.

If you can go into paint or something, if it is one pic, you can probably make it into two separate files and make them bigger.

Otherwise, I like the simple, single stack.

I'm sure it leaves more usable bed room than all the pipe I have.

I have 5" turn-outs on my Dodge, But I really want a set of cab height 6" Angle cut stacks. They have to be able to reduce to 5" at the bottom. I was wondering where you got the 6" stacks. Thanks!

My whole kit was somewhere around the $500 range (shipping included).

If you want 6" stacks that reduce to 5" tell him you want 6" to 5"x36" (miter cut or tip out).

Just curious - I like stacks but can't run them with my slide-in camper.

Someday I may trade for a 5th wheel - will stacks black the front of whatever

you are pulling? Seems like it would, do those "bull haulers" turn outs help?

Or are they not practical for towing something you don't want sooty?

Jeff- Unless your truck is a smoker, the stacks shouldn't be a problem. Just don't point them straight back, if you get turn-outs (tip-outs).

Great thread! Has anyone ever run a "muffler" stack like a big-rig? I remember a big 50" Nelson muffler that Joe Donnelly used in a recent TDR mag article. It seems like it would be really cool to plumb up to the bed and then use the muffler as the verticle element, finishing it off with a nice turnout tip.



I work at a fabrication shop and could roll some perforated stainless to cover the muffler and then get it chromed. Just thinking out loud... I love stacks but I don't think my neigbhors would appreciate the 4:30am wakeup call every morning!!

As far as your 5th wheel taking a soot bath, John can give you first hand experience with that. His truck was the first dually posted with stacks (bad *** truck!!!!)

I didn't drill a hole in the bottom when I first put them on (so excited to hear it I forgot). Not a week later it RAINED hard and for hours, it was pretty funny watching all that black water shoot out all over the place, too bad it was at a car show (they were mad). Since then I've also polka-dotted my dad's boat, 3 different skid steers, a Cat 316C backhoe, some jet skis, a bunch of people, 2 mustangs and a camaro. Maybe people will stop asking me to pull stuff for them. hehehhe

I have seen it done and it does not look good at all. The guy used the things you would use on a house to put a chimney through a roof. That part worked good, it just looked funny with a couple of inches of stack sticking through the roof of his cap.



I have dreams of a toneau cover with stacks, but not for a while. Lots more to do to make it go fast and ride better.
