jims:
I'm running Stage IIs w/ the VA and the Original Powermax. I usually run the Powermax turned "off," thereby using only it's boost module function. My Stage II's smoke like crazy if your not careful about how you drive it. And, as Andy R said above, you have make each shift higher in the RPMs so that your next gear starts at least at 1500+ RPM. The VA makes it worse, but the low-end grunt is way cool. My wife doesn't understand this new style of driving, so she lugs the truck, bogs the throttle and wonders why she can't see behind her! She LOVES the power, however. She says, "I love to drive your truck, it's so zippy!" ... ... Zippy, huh? Not exactly how I would describe it.

Bottom line, even the Stage IIs smoke too much for some people, but I love 'em. You will too.
