You know guys,
I don’t know if Stanadyne is all that much better than Power service if at all. I guess when I was looking for a year round additive the stanadyne PF had the more impressive information available, and maybe I figured if it cost more it must be better! Maybe it is and then again maybe it isn’t! At this point it is probably product loyalty because my last two truck ran noticeably better using it and I have never had any problems. I May have had the same results with PS…. I don’t live in an extreme northern latitude and we don’t get the severe long term cold here in Colorado, but this post has made me think about it. Here is a sample of both of there claims.

Stanadyne
Year-round application - improves performance in summer and in winter. Reduces No. 2 fuel pour point by up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Improved horsepower - with up to a 5 point cetane rating gain, resulting in noticeably better acceleration; fewer downshifts, etc.
Increases fuel economy - more efficient combustion and increased power can result in up to 8% improvement in MPG, thus easily paying for itself.
Easier and faster start-up - especially from cold.
Reduced smoke and particulate emmisions - cleaner burn.
Longer service intervals - detergents protect and clean injectors and help remove deposits and and prevent plugging. Lubricants reduce wear of costly injection system components.
Upgrades and stabilizes fuel - No need to buy expensive blended fuel. Reduces sludge and fuel tank contaminants.
Alcohol free - Avoids corrosion and accelerated wear.

Power Service
Year-Around:
Boosts cetane up to 4 numbers – promotes smoother engine operation with less power lag
Cleans injectors – exceeds engine manufacturer's specifications
Reduces emissions and black exhaust smoke
increases power – reduces need for downshifting
Decreases fuel consumption – fuel savings exceed cost of additive
Lubricates fuel injectors and pumps – reduces wear
Disperses water in diesel fuel
Contains no alcohols
In Winter:
Prevents fuel gelling in temperatures as low as -40°F.
Equals performance of a 50/50 blend of No. 2 and No. 1 diesel fuels
Lowers Cold-Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) as much as 36°F. – keeps fuel-filters from plugging with wax
Boosts cetane up to 4 number for easier starts
Contains anti-icing additive – protects against fuel-filter icing

Shell ROTELLATM DFA has advanced additive technology specifically designed for today's high performance, fuel-efficient, low-emission diesel engines. It exceeds the fuel injector cleanliness requirements of the Cummins L-10 specification, and with regular use, will provide the following benefits:
Cleans dirty fuel injectors
Prevents fuel gelling down to -40oF
Improves cold starting
Increases power
Reduces emissions
Lubricates fuel-injection system and engine
Disperses water
Increases fuel mileage
ROTELLA DFA can improve your fuel's cetane number as much as 3 points, which can provide:
Easier ignition and quicker start-up at low temperatures
Faster, smoother warm-up
Reduced white smoke at start-up
Decreased engine noise
Reduced misfire
Lower soot levels
Applications and specifications
ROTELLA DFA is a diesel fuel additive package intended for use as a bottled all season aftermarket product in #2 diesel fuel. The 96-oz. bottle of ROTELLA DFA is used to treat 300 gallons of fuel, and the 32-oz. bottle is used to treat 100 gallons of fuel. Is is ashless and does not contain chlorine, alcohol or phosphorus. At normal treat rates, ROTELLA DFA delivers "superior" detergency performance as defined by the Cummins Material Specification 60032. Using ROTELLA DFA at higher concentration levels increases the cleaning power of your fuel even more. At higher dosages, ROTELLA DFA can deliver piston-cleaning performance!
