RAM AIR 3 or SCOTTY 3
Folks like the Scotty name as it relates to the systems... We used Ram Air 3 as it does work as a Ram Air intake behind the grill.
It is not like other systems that are square or not sealed.
This unit is round [air and gases like that better] and it is enclosed. It takes air from the front and from the factory fender inlet.
No cutting or altering is required. I went with the biggest possible filter and this did push the turbo inlet hose back some. However, the turbo inlet hose does have some give and allows it to flow unrestricted.
We eliminated the weak springed filter minder as it sucked down 100% on a stock truck. Everyone that is using the system claims egt reductions on stock trucks when towing and a slight improvement under load in the mid rpm range.
We do not make any claims of power increase or mileage increase. Some folks have said they have seen both.
We claim Exhaust Gas Temperature reductions.
This intake system is giving better results then the original Scotty II for the 2nd gen trucks.
The testing was in heavy rain, snow, dusty conditions, hot, cold and whatever else we could test in and all results where very favorable.
It has doubled [even more] the air flow and filtration surface.
If you are concerned about oiled filters, try another system. Silicon levels on analysis are less then stock once again just like the 2nd gens.
I will attach a decent picture of it to this post.
Thanks for your interest in the Ram Air III.
Sure hope I did not infringe on any site rules by answering these concerns.
