I thought that seemed a little high, but that's about the best price I could find? Hopefully you know something I don't... . Where can I get a better price?

Thanks,

Andy

Yes I did, but I can't remember anymore. It turned out that the shocks bilstein had were NOT long enough. The ones they wanted to sell me for the rear were shorter than the stockers (I wanna say the stock rears measured 27" extended). And the fronts they had were only like 3/4" longer.

I'm still running my stockers for the mean time. Debating weather or not to go to a 4" or 4. 5" lift before I settle on shocks first.

What I did find out is that the lengths for the edelbrock extreme resevouirs for the 2nd gen rams w/ 3-4" of lift were very close, and I was going to buy them but they were just too expensive, considering I could get a bilstein 7100 cheaper than that.

RAM AIR 3 or SCOTTY 3

Folks like the Scotty name as it relates to the systems... We used Ram Air 3 as it does work as a Ram Air intake behind the grill.

It is not like other systems that are square or not sealed.

This unit is round [air and gases like that better] and it is enclosed. It takes air from the front and from the factory fender inlet.

No cutting or altering is required. I went with the biggest possible filter and this did push the turbo inlet hose back some. However, the turbo inlet hose does have some give and allows it to flow unrestricted.

We eliminated the weak springed filter minder as it sucked down 100% on a stock truck. Everyone that is using the system claims egt reductions on stock trucks when towing and a slight improvement under load in the mid rpm range.

We do not make any claims of power increase or mileage increase. Some folks have said they have seen both.

We claim Exhaust Gas Temperature reductions.

This intake system is giving better results then the original Scotty II for the 2nd gen trucks.

The testing was in heavy rain, snow, dusty conditions, hot, cold and whatever else we could test in and all results where very favorable.

It has doubled [even more] the air flow and filtration surface.

If you are concerned about oiled filters, try another system. Silicon levels on analysis are less then stock once again just like the 2nd gens.

I will attach a decent picture of it to this post.

Thanks for your interest in the Ram Air III.

Sure hope I did not infringe on any site rules by answering these concerns.

O Wee One. . . will the Scotty III work with aftermarket turbos like DD's new hybrid or Piers' PDR40? :)

Are there any CFM ratings for it or the filter element? Do you use an AFE filter?

I think you broke the site rules by telling us too much already! That's at least a flagrant 15-yard penalty! :p

More info

If the PDR or other aftermarket turbos use the same inlet hose as the factory one then it will work.

I am currently working on a project which will allow aftermarket singles on different exhaust manifolds and twins as well as stock to adapt to an air intake I am building.

No CFM ratings are available. However, from test results and feedback from folks using the system, the air flow is much more readily available and really shines in the real world towing.

I do not want to make any claims of dyno improvements, I prefer to give the real world results.

Folks over at DTR are posting great results.

There are some folks on TDR running the Ram Air 3

It does use an aFe filter... 12" cone, it is not available in the pro guard version.

Cool, thanks Scott :)

DD says you have to use their airbox with their turbo but I think they're mainly asserting you need to upgrade your airbox if you install their turbo (and naturally want to sell theirs with it). I would think yours would work with it since the DD turbo sits in the same orientation. Certainly the PDR40 wouldn't be a problem with the Scotty III.
