I just want to confirm this clunk is in the steering box. I have heard a rattling in the front end and I thought it was due to the worn out sway bar bushings until I got under the truck for an oil change and noticed the pittman arm nut was loose. (I am glad I installed the steering box stabilizer kit.) This led me to attempt to tighten the steering gear adjustment bolt. It didn't do anything and I couldn't turn it in any farther.

Here is the youtube video of the clunk. I am planning on buying a new gear box on Monday. I may end up using a reman from Rock Auto or a Mopar unit unless someone can recommend a better solution.

Have you considered a Redhead?

They appear to be a high quality rebuilder. I know a lot of guys on this forum have used them, and I haven't heard of any negative feedback. I can't remember how long I've had mine, but it hasn't given me any problems and it still feels tight.

I'll have to give them a try. The price seems reasonable. I just put on new sway bar end links too and that didn't solve it. Its got 245,000 on it, so its bound to be worn out.

That's weird to see all of the steering problem issues now because I just started noticing a "moan" when the vehicle is cold and I pull out of the driveway and turn the steering wheel. It seems to go away when the vehicle warms up. Is a problem with the steering box always a clunk or are there different manifestations? I just replaced the power steering pump less than a year ago.

That noise/clunk sounds too loud to be an internal gearbox noise, sounds like something external. Make sure of the noise location before you spend money.
