Anybody ever had the bolts loosen up that attach steering box to adapter plate on a 4X4? Mine are loose and the steering box moves waytoo much. Good news is the UPS man just dropped of my Borgeson shaft!! Hope I can get it installed and new bolts in adapter plate before outside temps start dropping again, 'cause I'm "structurally challenged", ie, no stinkin' garage!!

I have never had loose bolts but I have cracked the plate before. When I replaced the plate (due to the popping sound it was making) I replaced the bolts with Caterpillar Hardware. I believe I used fine thread hardware and then put locktight on the bolts. I got new bolts that hold the plate to the gear box too.

The bolts are loose at the box? Hopefully the casting is not wallered out and will still hold a bolt thread. Make sure the bolts screw in and don't move around excessivly in the holes. I have lost count of how many steering boxes I have put on. After dropping the front end into holes wheeling the box starts leaking, and can't be fixed. Was told that the shaft was bent, thats why seals wouldn't hold.
