I am going to replace my steering box tonight. Does anyone have any thoughts to make this job go nice and easy. it does not look that bad. I am just going with a stock lifetime unit from the parts store. $165. 00 thanks
Did mine two weeks ago and went with this napa box. i tore into the front end. The box install is straight forward #ad
Installed a new bumper and cleaned the intercooler & radiator out. so i figured might as well try and tighten the steering up with a Delphi box (which did help). #ad
well I have alot of pullers but none that I have ever labeled as a pitman arm puller. How about having to get air out of system after removing the lines?
Should be straight up like most systems. Leave front on end on stands so the wheels are off the ground, fill reservoir to fill mark (might as well use synthetic fluid too) then start engine and turn lock to lock one time - shut down - check fluid add if needed and repeat as many times as it takes until it sounds smooth and no more fluid is needed, then put on the ground and see how it works.
With the engine off turn the wheels lock to lock to purge air from the lines, add fluid as needed. once you get the air out of the lines replace the cap then start the truck and repeat a couple more times. shut the truck off and check the fluid level and for leaks. should be good to go.
