I was out changing the diff fluid today and noticed oil or diesel dripping off the power steering box. Further investigation showed that it was coming somewhere above the box. I have a dealer appointment on Thursday, but any of you guys have an idea where this is coming from? Couldn't for the life of me find the source.

I bet it's the same hose that went out on me... . The hose I am referring to is the one that goes from the PS Pump to the Brake Booster. Mine was obviously very sensitive, I just moved it a little while changing my fuel filter. May have already been cracked right above the fitting where it goes into the back of the PS Pump. All I know was the hose went out in the middle of a 1000 mile trip at 11:00 at night, only 200 miles into the trip. To top it off, the only hose within a tri-state area was in DesMoines... . I found that out in Topeka at a Dealership. I had to drive it 800 miles with NO fluid in either resivoir. The funny part is, once the hose was replaced and the resivoir was filled, it was fine. I thought for sure I was going to have to replace the pump and booster for running it dry. Doesn't even make any noise. :--)

I dont have an 03 but on my 01 on 2 different occassions the top plate of the steering box was leaking. Checked the bolts and they were all finger loose. The first time 3 of the 4 were part way out. The second time it happened they were just finger loose. Hasnt happened again in 100k. Might be worth checking.

Thanks for the responses. I got it back from the dealer today and they replaced the entire steering box. They specified a bad seal as the cause of the leak.

The dealer replaced mine as well very early on. I hadn't een noticed it leaking yet.

My 04. 5 has a leak somewhere in that general area also. Haven't check it myself but will go into the dlr next week.

Dlr will replace the steering gear box when I take the truck back in. Right now they don't know which steering gear box is on my truck. Different models of gear boxes?

I think when I buy my new Dodge CTD 3500 4x4 I will get the longest extended warranty Dodge sells and start takin the service manager out to lunch at least once a month so we can have a nice relationship, since it looks like we will see a lot of each other when I keep bring my truck back for warranty work :(
