My '98 3500 two wheel drive truck with 151,000 pampered on-highway miles has developed a scraping noise in the steering column. Dealer service mgr told me it was the clockspring. I changed it out. Couldn't see anything wrong with the one I took out, but since it was out, I changed it. It didn't help. I am guessing now I need to install the Rock Solid lower column kit even though I can't detect any side to side play in the lower end of the shaft. No clunking noise and the truck drives pretty good.

Anybody else experienced scraping/rubbing noise in the column?

Thanks. That sounds like a plan. For awhile, I could make it go away by turning the radio up. That's not working now.

Thanks for your service. I was there too.
