It was recommended to me a year or 2 ago to get new ball joints for my truck. I didnt buy that, so I got a second opinion. The 2nd opinion said there was a little wear, but come see him again a 2-3 years. IMO, the ball joints are still pretty good today.
I've noticed now that my steering wheel tries to go left-right when I go over a little bump while at low speed. I still dont buy ball joints as the problem. Maybe steering shaft, but Ill have that looked at.
Im guessing that the steering dampener is probably getting a little worn, but not to where its a real problem.
So, here is my question. If I replace the steering dampener, will it be harder on the ball joints ? Not as hard on the ball joints ? No difference ? My reasoning is that, if the wheels have a little play with the worn dampener, it takes a little pressure off of the ball joints.
