Decided since I have 100K on my truck I'd change out the SS.

So, I did my research and bought a Skyjacker. But, when I started the job and I finally looked under the truck I found that there are two. One from the drag link to the frame and one from the tie rod to the front axel. My service manuel only shows the first one so I called my excellent dealer and he said that the heavy duty suspension came with two. Anyway, I changed the first one and found much improvement in the steerilng stability.

I guess my question is, does anyone else have a stock setup like this? If so, and you changed out the second one, what did you replace it with? There's not much clearance between it and the pumpkin. I don't think the Skyjacker would fit.

By the By, this turned out to be an easy job, old one popped right off with a puller.

Thanks.

Gene, did you install the single or dual Skyjacker SS? I just installed the dual on mine, and agree it was nice and easy. Just had the single SS to start with from the tie rod to the right front axle. With the BFG 35" tires, I sure noticed in a hurry that the stock one (even with only 29K miles) was not up to par. The dual set-up has improved things a lot. So my point is you may not need another one if you're getting good enough control at this point.

Hi MudFlapp,

Dodge did this to my '95. If you look at the part # on the ss that goes from the axle to the tie rod you will see a Rancho #. This was a attempt to fix the wander. I switched over to Skyjackers dual set-up on that truck. Sam

Second Stabilizer

This was part of TSB 19-05-96. I added it to my truck as an insurance against the death wobble. I was eating steering stabilizers in under 10K each

Hi not experiencing any problem with my SS, but was wondering if changed to a Skyjacker, or Rancho would I see a major difference?

Darren

Darren, it seems like a lot of folks have to replace the POS stock stabilizer. It's an easy job if you use a pitman arm puller, you will notice a big difference in driving. Cheapest place to get one is here. Many of you newcomers who don't know of this source will love it, started by a member, who just like Evan, was banished for helping everyone out.
