Another Speedometer Problem

Hmmm, I'm not sure about that T-case shifting..... Are those gears beveled to take that? I know that was a big downfall to the old "Brownie" Brownlite boxes of yesteryear... . Or are you talking 5-10mph shifts?

Twin sticks. Hell no! I drove a 5-4 twice... . One was a wrecker. I spent more time stopping because I was lost than I did driving!!! I almost made up mind one time it would be faster to winch myself home!!! :-laf Once I got it up in the big hole, no problems with the old 1693 Cat... . but... Getting it there caused me several gray hairs... .

I know a Tdr member that uses his this way steady. And he has high mileage doing this. And no issues.

One must remember that it is no different that really shifting in and out of 4wd.

And are you whining? Lmao :D

I don't think I've ever used any of my T-cases like a splitter..... I was just curious as to how it worked... . I've used the twin sticks in Jeeps and another truck I had, but didn't know of high speed shifts would cause a problem..... We were always stopped, trying to get traction over a tree or in a big hole with water pouring in through the holes in the floorboard...

Bschwarzli: Impressive Job!! Congratulations! Can't wait to see your truck in person and competing against it with my 1997! Gonna be interesting how fast you'll be able to shift all 24 gears while drag racing!:-laf:-laf Both your hands will be busy shifting both levers and pulling the GV knob while driving with your knees! And if a shift is missed, oops!:D

Been too long since we last competed. ;)

Lol. Thanks Sray.

Yes we will need to play again. But I don't think we will be close racing anymore with your mods. ;)

Bschwarzli: what mods? My goat hardly changed in 3 years. Pump never changed at all.

Bschwarzli: my 1997 has been over 900+ ft/lbs torque since pump was done. Your DD has so far bested my hp everytime. And we're still pretty even at the drag track with reaction times being the deciding win or lose between us, despite the tire size and weight differences. The most fun part is when we're even and fighting to get to the finish line first! :D

Just the lousy dyno that just can't load enough and keep a consistent power reading everytime.

Looks great but, I have to ask did you see a boost in MPG with the upgrade?

I really don't know! Lol. I have only logged miles with the trailer behind me since then! ;)

In theory I shouldn't as gearing has not changed and neither has rpm. Just that insist the gear once more.

this thread is several years old but..... im hoping for some advice from bscwarzli. i am in the process of buying everything needed to swap a nv5600 into my 92 dodge. i have an automatic in it now and i noticed that you are using what looks like a spline coupler for your transfer case. i was wondering if you have had any problems with it and how you got it to work. does the np205 have a male input shaft? i havent pulled any parts off my truck yet so i dont quite know what it looks like. saving all that fun when i get to lift the 400 pound monster sitting in my garage lol any help would be great!

Yes the np205 has a male input shaft, and the spline coupler is how they were put together from the factory and is a tried an true method, that being said your auto 205 has a smaller 23 spline input shaft, where the manual transmission has a larger 29 spline input shaft for the transfer case. they do make a adapter coupler that's 23 spline on one side and 29 on the other but your better off getting a 29 spline transfer case to go with the transmission.

I need to do the 2 stick think on my 92 i either have bad shift rails or the crappy stock gated shifter is keeping me from useing low range in my transfer case

Correct. You either have to swap output shafts in the 205, or you have to swap entire t cases. That is what I did as the output shaft actually cost more than a good condition box from a yard. LOL

And yes had been good and reliable!

Basically the transmission has a male, and the t case has a male. Then you have a double female coupler that joins them together.

Does that explain your question?

I lost my speedometer adapter for a 92, 2 wheel drive Getrag (the part that attaches to the transmission) and sender and wondering if you have these parts. Thanks

You need the part that actually goes in the transmission? Or the field generator that bolts on to that and has wires plugged into it?
