Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Radiator Replacement

I've been digging through articles, chasing wires and cleaning dust out of the dashboard doors etc trying to solve a reoccurring problem with the stereo in my truck. I was hoping that someone may be able to point me in the direction of a solution that works and or something to replace what is still stock in my truck with.

At random times the Drivers side and Rear Passenger speaker will cut out. Just recently the stereo has begun to sound garbled and put out half the volume that it could when turned all the way up. Sorry if this sounds pretty vague, that's the best description I can give what is going on.

Thank you for your time.

Which factory stereo? The Infinity system (with a tweeter in the A pillar) has a power amp in each driver's door for the speakers on that side of the truck. It makes for a fat harness to run audio in and out of the door.

It could be as simple as two bad speakers. You can swap the speakers side to side if you don't have spares. If the problem follows the speakers then you have your answer.

My apologies, I forgot that specific detail when I posted. It's the stock deck with the tape cassette player with no pillar speakers, just the ones in the doors.

Sometimes the wires can break in the rubber boot at the door jamb, they may be barely making contact. You can pull back the boot to find out.
