here is the installation checklist for the HX35/40
1. always understand why the original turbo needs changed before fitting a new one.
2. check the turbo dataplate to ensure the part no. is correct for the engine/application
3. check that the engine intake and exhaust systems are clean of obstructions i. e. oil, gasket debris.
4. replace the oil and air filters using those recommended by the engine manufaturer.
5. change the engine oil using the type recomended b its manufacturer
6. check that the turbo oil inlet and drain connections are clean and free of dust and from obstructions and will not leak under pressure.
7. mount the turbo on the exhaust flange and check that the turbine inlet gsket fits properly without obstructing the gas passages.
8. rotate the turbo central bearing housin so that the oil inlet and drain are in the vertical position. up to 22 degrees fro vertical is permitted
9. pour clean oil into the oil inlet hole and then twist the rotor assembly until clean oil starts to flow out the drain flange.
10. rotate the compressor housing into the correct position and assemble the the air intake and boost outlet connections. check the the connections are well made and do not have a possibility of leaking under pressure.
11. reassemble the exhuast system to the turbo housing inlet. check that the connection is well made and will not leak.
12. skip
13. check all hose/pipe clamps/studs/nuts are correctly torqued Note:cannot locate torque settings at this time.
14. carefully assemeble the tur oil inlet pipe and check that the connection is clean and will not leak under pressure
15. cranl the engine DO NOT ALLOW TO START until oil flows out the turbo drain flange.
16. assemble the oil drain pipe and check that all connections are clean and well made without obstruction
17. skip
18. start the engine and leave running at idle for 1 minute so that the oil supply system is fully perational.
19. accelerate the egineand check for any leaks of air/oil/gasses under pressure
20. recheck all hoses and clamps for loose connections
Enjoy.
from what i have found both from my Holset and Dodge manuals their arent any torque specs avialable to go by. and the most important step is to preoil it by filling it and spinning the turbo until oil comes out the drain flange.
