105 mph with 410 and stock size tires. I must of got a bad truck. My truck is screaming at 85 mph (1997, 4 x4, 410 gears,5spd, stock size tires). Maybe its my transmission?

:--)

pstillo, that is what i have always heard about the 4. 1 if i knew the 03 would do 105 i might have considered 4. 1. i would like to find out if others w/ 4. 1 can do 105

Maybe I just got a good one. Maybe the Canadian air is thinner? It was one of the first produced. The tach said 3200 and the speedo said 105. And the speedo accuracy was verified by my GPS. And my gears are 4. 10. I always heard that black trucks are faster then other colors. :D

Maybe you should take it back to the dealer and tell him it is not running right. How about a paint job?

OK you two

In two months we'll line 'em up and settle this color issue once and for all! But I can tell you right now, all ya'll gonna see out yer windshields is RED!:D :D :D

Then your faces gonna be RED:mad:

Fireman:cool:

I realize this thread relates primarily to 3rd generation trucks, but a similar discussion a while back on the 2nd gennies seemed to indicate they were good for better than 125 with 3. 54 gears before they shut down - I know I took mine up to 110 once on a quick spurt - it was still climbing rapidly, but *I* wasn't! ;)

That was before the Comp, but doubt that changes top speed capability...

Wonder what, besides the differential gearing mighta changed?

Sure. Whatever you say. :D

Casey

thats it i am going to run this thing again with full tank and see where this thing is redlining at. the first run if i remember correctly it would only went to right before the redline and stopped. at top speed it was barely touching the redline. i have seen the needle go way past red while trying to shift fast and my pedal sticking went to 3400. it will not go to 3400 on the top speed though? what might be up with this? i am going to run it again!

CATCRACKER, i'm still sticking with this.

In my truck I can surge to 3,700 RPM and WOT, no load is about 3,550RPM. Mild load will easily pull the motor down to 3,300RPM

I'm betting the '03's + are the same way.

ran again 108 cant get my truck to go past any red(girl truck). dont worry i am going to make this thing a man

b-1(maybe even a Piers50),injectors,clutch,fueling box,guages

where do i look to find out if i have 4. 10's?

CATCRACKER,,,

The 2nd Gen's had the R&P ratio under the hood along with paint , engine, and transmission codes.

HTH,

Merrick Cummings Jr

EDIT: A gear Vendors, or US Gear Overdrive would solve this situation quickly. We need to find out if the ECM or PCM is limiting MPH. In that case a US Gear or Gear Vendors would only get the RPM lower, but not the speed higher.

Can't remember this for sure but it seems like the ratio is also listed on the sticker in your glovebox!!!!!!!
