Just wondering how long the stock Michelins will last. I rotate them every 5000mi and have no complaints about them. Just wondering their life span?

I also would like to know. I was just talking with someone yesterday about the same thing. I have about 25k on them and the tread still looks new. My old truck I had michelin LTX AT's on it and they lasted about 40k. These appear to be lasting much longer so far. Must be a harder compound as well as the different tread pattern.

I just pulled the 2 fronts off with 65K on them. Still had 50% tread. I keep them at 80psi and rotate them every 30 to 40K when I think about it... ... ... ... ... . The only reason I pulled them off is some guy here in town had a complete set of mags and Michliens off his 2001. 5 with less than 5,000 miles for $500. I covered him like gravy on a chicken fried steak. So... ... ..... now I have an extra set of Alloys, Michliens, center caps and lug nutz for sale.

I'm at 64k on mine and still at least 10-15kmiles left. Best wearing tire I've ever had on any of my 5 Cummins. Just rotate regularly and watch inflation and they should last.

I have a little over 70,000 miles on my original tires, I run the pressure recommended in the Michilin book that came with the truck. Four of the tires are pretty much used up, the other three have about 40 or 50 % tread left, I rotated them some but not quiet enough. I have never got this many miles on any tire. Most of the miles were towing a 31' fifth wheel. bg

I rotated my fronts to back at 20,000 miles. At 40,000 I was going to do it again, but I managed to pick up a chunk of junk from a wreck that I drove past, in one of my front tires. Since the tire wasn't repairable, I had the spare tire put on the front along with a new tire. I should get another 20k out of the back tires, before I have to replace them.

I figure, under moderate BOMBing and sane driving, most of you should get about 60,000 out of the factory Michelins

I got 70K out of my stock Michelins with rotating every 8K. I maybe could have gotten a few more miles out of them but I was taking a big trip and wanted to be safe than sorry.

It depends on how much driving you do in the snow. Mine had about 40k and I know I would have had problems this winter. I'm going to mount them on another set of rims and use them as summer/towing tires.

According to the Michellin dealer it depends on which tire you have. I got 45K out of my stock Mich. A/S tires and they said that was more than most get out of them. I could have got another 10K out of them if I had taken them down to the wear bars, but I wanted more aggresive tires. I went with the Mich. M/S and they have told me I should get 50 % more wear out of them. I now have 55K on them and they should go another 25 to 40 K.

I had 2 Michelin dealers that told me that they have softer compound in the A/S tires. They said they are great for selling cars because they ride good and a lot of OEM use that to their advantage.

The M/S tires asre not any noiser than the A/S tires. They are not that aggressive. Michelin does make a more aggresive tire in the A/T.

A/S = all season

M/S = mud and snow

A/T = all terain

Had 245/75/16 M/S on the front and 245/75/16 ATs on the rear when I bought the truck. Tire pressures were 'way up there. What an evil-handling, vile, treacherous combination that was! Had a hard time keeping the thing on the road on the way home from the dealer. Now have M/S on all four. Much better!

Stock 265/75-16 E Range . 41,500 miles and about 50% tread is still left. I rotate every 5K. 95% hwy miles. 65 psi front 45 psi rear. I cross rotate to minimize uneven wear. I used to only rotate front to back, but was getting to much wear on the passenger side tires to to wheel spin:D :D

27,994 miles and there is a little tread still there. This will be the last Winter they will see - Oh, and they are the Michelin 245/75-16 M&S provided by the factory. Also - Rotate every 10,000 and show very even wear. Never gotten more than 40,000 out of any truck tire.

I have just over 60K with ~. 15" of tread left over the wear bars. I figure they will go at least another 10K miles. I rotate them myself at every oil change. If you do not rotate often enough you will lose some life because the sholders on the front tires wear out faster.
